Hello,

Thanks for using Photo Transfer App. I'm sorry you are having problems with the app. Yes, you can transfer videos with our app. Is the crash occurring when you scroll really fast on the photos? I would recommend to delete some of the photos to reduce the total number of images stored on the album. It looks like there is a problem with the iPad 'Photos' app that is causing the crash when there are a lot of photos stored on one album. Here are couple of links with some discussions about the problem:

http://discussions.apple.com/thread.j...

http://pillowtalk.wendylayne.com/?p=190

In any case, we recommend to have a max of 200 to 300 pictures on the album to avoid this problem. Also, make sure that you update your iPad to the latest Apple software (3.2.2)

I hope this helps. Please let us know if you have any other questions or comments.

Kind regards,
Enrique

Thanks for the info. So, I understand that you can save email photos to the camera roll but did you try to email a photo from an album outside the camera roll to yourself? What I would like to check is that the 'Mail' application can read the photos outside the camera roll. Basically, you need to open the 'Photos' app, navigate to an album outside the camera roll and use the 'Share' button (the one with a little arrow) to email yourself a photo. Please let me know if the photo arrives ok.

I look forward to your results.
Hello,
Thanks for your message. Ok, that explains somehow the issue. Did you recently updated your iPhone (the sender) to iOS4? it looks like some iPhones are having this strange issue with the photos in the photo library after upgrading to iOS4.

Try to email to yourself the same photos that you tried to transfer unsuccessfully. The people who have contacted us with a similiar problem as you have reported that they can't email photos from their photo library either which means that somehow the data of their Photo Library photos is missing or corrupted (which is totally unrelated to our application) after the iOS4 upgrade.

Here is a discussion about this issue on our support forum:

Please let me know your results after you try to email those photos to yourself and please tell me if you just updated to iOS4.

Kind regards,

Enrique

Hello Johnny,

Thanks for posting your question here. I just replied to your message over email. Here is the email I just sent you:

"Thanks for contacting us. I'm sorry you are having problems with the app.

How big are the photos that you were transferring from your computer to your iPhone 3GS? Were they taken with a very high resolution camera or with another iPhone? If they are very high resolution I would recommend you to decrease the size before uploading them to your iPhone to avoid any problems while the 'Photos' app resizes the images.

Another suggestion is to delete the photos that are not displayed correctly and then try the transfer again. Sometimes, if the photo catalog is not refreshed, the photos are not saved correctly in the Camera roll (specially if there were no photos before).

I hope this helps somehow. Please give me some extra information about the photos that you transferred if you continue having issues. I will be happy to help."

Let us know if this helped you. Also, let us know what is the source of the images that you uploaded to your iPhone and what resolution are they.

Regards,

Enrique

Dear Ann,

Thanks for posting your question here. I'm sorry you are having problems with the app.

You don't need to install anything on your computer, the only thing you need is the app running on your iPhone 4 and a web browser on your computer. Please make sure that your iPhone and your computer are connected to the same wifi network as sometimes the iPhone may join another nearby network automatically.

Are you using a home wifi network or a public network? Please note that some public wifi networks block the communication layer that our app uses to transfer photos.

Another suggestion is to try using a different web browser like Safari, Google Chrome or Firefox to see if that helps.

If you continue having problems please send us the address that you are getting on the application to check if it looks ok. Please make sure that you are typing it exactly as it appears on your iPhone including the 'http://' and ':8080' parts.

Let us know if you continue having problems. We will be happy to help.

Best regards,

Enrique

Hello Dave, Floyd,

Thanks for your post and comment. I'm sorry you are having problems with the app. Let me explain a bit how the app works so you have an idea why sometimes these connection problems occur.

The address provided inside of the application is the internal address of your device on the network. This address is assigned by your wifi router and each device/computer will have one assigned when it connects to the network. The address is only reachable inside of the network -it's a private address- which means that only devices connected to the same network will be able to reach it. That is why is very important to double check they are on the same network.

Now, when you type the address on the web browser what happens is that the browser talks to the router requesting to be connected to the device with the address provided. Normally any home wifi router will establish the connection immediatly and the the app then will respond with the transfer web page. However, some more routers are configured to block any communication between devices on the network for security reasons. This prevents devices to talk to each other which leads to a page not found error.

Also, sometimes when the device has not been active on the network for a while the router may "forget" about it and the connection will fail. A suggestion to avoid this is to open the 'Settings' app on your iPhone/iPad, turn off wifi and then turn it back on to join the network again. This will help making sure that the connection with the router is established.

Another suggestion is to restart the wifi router to make sure that all the connections and addresses get refreshed. Unfortunately some routers get stuck with internal addresses so resetting is something that may help.

If the connection does not get established even after trying these suggestions. Another option is to create an 'ad-hoc' network between your computer and your device. An 'ad-hoc' network is a direct network between your computer and your device. To do this you can refer to this web page on this support forum:

http://getsatisfaction.com/photo_tran...

Follow the instructions on the page above depending the type of computer you are using.

I hope this explains a bit how the app works. Please let us know if you continue having problems and we'll try to find other solutions.

Hello Dave,

Thanks for posting your question here. That's an strange issue. Did you have any photos stored on your iPhone 4 already? Were the photos saved to the 'Camera roll' album?

I would recommend you to delete those two photos and try the transfer again. It is possible that there was a connection interruption during the transfer and the photos were not copied correctly. Another possibility is that the photo catalog was not up to date on the iPhone 4 causing this problem.

Let me know how it goes after you delete those photos and try transferring new ones.

Bes regards,

Enrique

Hello Suzanne,

Thanks for posting your question here. I assume you were able to download the zip file to your computer, correct? After you download the zip file, you should extract the photo JPG files from it. To do this you would normally only need to double click on the zip file to extract it's contents. The other option is to right-click the zip file and then choose 'Extract' from the menu of options that appears.

Let us know if you are having problems extracting the contents of your zip file by double clicking it or using the 'right-click' approach. If you do, please let us know what type of computer you are using so we can suggest what to do.

Best regards,

Enrique

Hi Diane,

Thanks for your message. I'm glad the problem is partly resolved. So, if I understand correctly, you still have some problems with one of your computers? can you tell me some details of the issue you are having with that computer?
