Hi Owen,

Thanks for your question. Unfortunately there is no way to create an ad-hoc network between iPhone and iPad only as Apple does not allow this functionality on their devices. However, if you have access to a computer, you can create an 'ad-hoc' network on the computer (even without access to the internet) and connect the iPhone and iPad to this network to exchange photos.

I hope I had better news but for now you need to have a wifi network available or a computer to be able to create the 'ad-hoc' network.

Let us know if you would like us to send you the instructions on how to create an 'ad-hoc' network from a windows or mac computer.

Kind regards,

Enrique

Hello,

Thanks for posting your question here. Unfortunately, we currently do not support Android or other non-Apple devices. We will start doing more android development in the near future and this would be one of the first things we will do. I'll post something here when we have a first version available that you can use.

Let us know if you have any other question or comment.

Kind regards,

Enrique

Hello Joseph,
Thanks for contacting us. Unfortunately placing photos in different albums in the 'Photos' app is currently not possible. Believe me, we would love to be able to fix this, even for our own use. However, with the current version of the iPhone/iPad SDK is not possible.

'Almighty' Apple does not provide an approved way to save photos to a new album or even to create one. All photos are currently saved to the 'Saved photos' album. We are limited with the access that Apple gives developers to the iPhone/iPad photos and it is currently very restricted :( We will explore the new OS for iPad (coming at the end of the summer) to see if there is a way to create albums in iOS 4 version for iPad - hopefully we will have that option!

As I requested on the email I sent you please update the title of this post so it reflects more accurately your problem. Thanks again.

Let me know if you have any other questions or comments. We will be happy to help and hear any feedback.

Best regards,
The Photo Transfer App team
Hello Mark,
Thanks for posting your question here. Your photos are transferred exactly as they are stored on your iPhone (including the rotation and all other header information). Our software does not alter or change anything on the photo.

What program are you using the open and view your photos? This is most likely happening because the software that you are using may not be able to read the Photo rotation headers properly. If you are using the web browser to view the photos I would recommend to download your photos to your computer (using the 'Download all' link) and then view them on your computer.

If you are using the windows image viewer from windows XP I would recommend to use a different software because the Windows Image Viewer is an old software and may not be able to recognize the correct rotation of the photo. You can use Google Picassa for example which should show the photos in the correct orientation.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other question or comment. We will be happy to assist you.

Hi Chris,

I'm glad to hear your like the app but I'm puzzled with this Safari problem, this is the first time we have an issue with it. In fact, we normally recommend people to switch to Safari or to Google Chrome when they are having problems specially if they are using IE on windows.

Did you check if you have the most recent version installed? You can do that by going to the 'Apple' icon on the top menu and choosing 'Software Update..'.

Let us know if you find something out.

Have a nice weekend! Regards,

Enrique
Dear James,

Thanks for contacting us. Are you viewing your photos inside of the web browser or did you download the photos to your computer? The photos are transferred exactly as they are on your iPhone, including the rotation headers. However, some programs (like the Windows XP image viewer) can't read the rotation information on iPhone photos so they may be displayed with the wrong orientation.

I would recommend you to use a different software to view your photos. You can use for example the Google Picassa for desktop which displays the iPhone photos in the correct orientation.

I hope this helps. Please let us know if you have any further question or comment. We will be happy to help.

Kind regards,

Enrique

Hi Peter,

Thanks for posting your question. Unfortunately placing photos in a different albums in the 'Photos' app or creating new albums is currently not possible. Believe me, we would love to be able to fix this, even for our own use. However, with the current version of the iPhone/iPad SDK is not possible.

Apple does not provide an approved way to save photos to a new album or even to create one. We are limited with the access that Apple gives developers to the iPhone/iPad photos and it is currently quite restricted :( We are hoping that they will fix this in the future but there is very little we can do about it.

We are also evaluating the possibility of developing a new iPad app that will be able to transfer photos the same way as Photo Transfer currently does but keeping the photos inside of the app so you can create albums and organize your pictures. We would still need a few weeks to release a first version, but I will make sure to post something here if we do.

I hope this is an understandable answer. Let us know if you have any other questions or comments.

Best regards,

Enrique

Hi Annie,

Thanks for the info. The address that you posted seems to be incorrect. Normally the address should be 4 numbers before the :8080, like http://X.X.X.X:8080 - the address that you sent only has 3 numbers separated by periods before the ':8080'.

Please open the app again on your iPhone and then try the address again from your computer's web browser. Make sure that you are typing it exactly as it appears on your iPhone including the 'http://' and the ':8080' parts.

If you continue having problems I would recommend you to turn off wifi on your iPhone and then turn it back on to join the network again and make sure all connections are refreshed.

I hope this helps. Let us know how it goes.

Best regards,

Enrique

Hello,

Thanks for posting your question here. We are aware of this problem. Apple changed some programming interfaces on iOS 4.2 that are causing this issue with the current version of the app. We already have an updated fixed version that will be released as soon as the official iOS 4.2 update comes out.

If you would like, you can send us your device ID by email and we can prepare a binary for you to install on your device so you can try the updated version earlier. Let us know: support [at] phototransferapp [dot] com

Hello RJ,

Yes, we are working on enabling bluetooth for the next release of the app. We still need two or three weeks but it's coming. I will post something here when the update becomes available.
