Photo Transfer App 2.0.1 was approved by Apple today and now is available as a free update on the app store. Please download the update which should fix the issue with the auto discovery mechanism when the device has an apostrophe on the name. Don't forget to update the application on your iPhone as well as your iPad.

Please note that sometimes (depending on the traffic in the network) it may take one or two attempts to establish communication between the devices.

Thanks for posting your question here. I'm sorry you are having problems using the app.

So, the first thing I would recommend is to right-click the link to 'Download all photos as zip file' instead of clicking it directly. Then, choose the option to 'Save linked file as' which will allow you to select a place on your hard drive where to save the zip file.

After the transfer is done, go to the place where you save the zip file and right-click the file and choose 'Extract'. This should create a new folder with all your photos inside.

I hope this will work. If you continue having problems, can you tell me if you are transferring photos from the same album as the first time or are they from a different album?

Thanks for posting your question here. For now we only support video transfer from iPhone to iPad or from iPhone to computer. Unfortunately Apple does not provide the programming interfaces to be able to read videos from the iPad.

We are waiting for Apple to release iOS4 for iPad (in November) to implement this feature on our application.

I'm sorry I didn't have better news. I will post something here as soon as we implement video transfers from iPad after the iOS4 for iPad rollout.

Thanks for posting here. Are you having issues connecting to the address you provided?

I would recommend you to double check that your iPhone/iPad and computer are connected to the same wifi network as sometimes the iPhone/iPad may join automatically another network.

We have noticed that some streaming services like a Skype call or an internet radio station can interrupt the communication between devices so you may want to check for that and turn them off while you attempt to transfer photos (also pause any big download that you may be doing while attempting to connect).

If you continue having problems you can try creating an 'ad-hoc' network using your computer. This will allow you to create a direct network between your computer and device avoiding going through the wifi network you are using.

Please email us if you continue having issues or if you want to try the 'ad-hoc' network route.

Thanks for posting your comments here. I'm sorry you are having problems with the app.

We are aware of this issue. We have discovered a bug that prevents the auto-discovery to work when an iPhone has an apostrophe (') on the name. For example if the iPhone is called "Marc's iPhone", the iPad will not find it on the network :(

We fixed the problem and submitted an update to Apple last Tuesday but they take several days to approve the update. We hope the update will be approved sometime between tomorrow and Wednesday.

In the meantime you should be able to use the manual entry. Or another option is to rename your iPhone. To rename your device open iTunes, connect your iPhone and then just click on your iPhone name in the Navigation Menu on the left side, wait about a second then click again and it should open up the Field for editing. After you rename your device and remove the apostrophe the auto-discovery should start working.

I apologize for this issue. Hopefully Apple approves the update very soon. Thanks for your patience.

I just wanted to follow up with this problem to make sure that you were able to transfer your photos from iPhone to iPhone.

Another possible thing that may help is to change the port number that the app uses to communicate. To do this please go to the 'Settings' app on your iPhone and then scroll down until you find the settings of our app ('Transfer'), then change the port number to a number between 1024 and 9999.

After changing the port open our app again and try the transfer process again. Please note that the address changed (the ending will have the number that you choose).

We submitted an update to Apple to fix this bug but they take a few days to approve an update - the update should be out in a few days.

In the meantime entering the address manually should work. You can touch the 'Manual entry' button on the 'Receive' tab and then enter the address that appears on the Device -> 'Send' tab of the sender device. Please note that sometimes it takes couple of attempts to establish communication.

Finally, we have noticed that some streaming services like a Skype call or an internet radio station can interrupt the communication between devices so you may want to check for that and turn them off while you attempt to transfer photos.

Thanks for posting your question here. Did you use the 'Download all photos as zip file' link on the transfer page? You should be able to find the zip file containing your photos on the 'Downloads' folder on your computer. You need to double click the zip file and a new folder will be created with your photos inside.

If the file is not in the'Downloads' folder then I would recommend to right-click the 'Download all photos...' link on the transfer page (instead of clicking it directly) and then use the 'Save linked file as' option so you can choose an specific place on your hard drive where you save the zip file. Then, you can navigate to that location and unzip the file.
