Hi Steve, Hector,
I'm really sorry it has taken us so long to post the update. We decided to include many other changes into the app so that's why it took us long to push the update.

The good news is that we sent version 2.0 of Photo Transfer App to Apple yesterday so now we are just waiting for them to approve it which may take from 5 to 8 days. We are excited because this new version includes a better way to connect between devices (using bonjour) and the ability to transfer short videos from iPhone to iPad among other improvements.

I would be happy to send you a pre-release version of the app that you can install on your device. I would only need your device ID to be able to create an app that you can install. Send us an email at: support [at] phototransferapp [dot] com if you want to do this so I can send you further instructions. It would actually help us having someone else external testing the app.

Kind regards,

Enrique

Hi,
Im sorry you are still having issues. Can you tell me if you are using a home network or a larger public network? If you are at home I would recommend to reset your wifi router and join the network again on your iPad an your computer so the address gets refreshed.

Also, we have noticed that some streaming services like a Skype call or an internet radio station can interrupt the communication between iPhone and computer so you may want to check for that and turn them off when trying to transfer.

Do you by any chance have a Dlink router? We've had similar issues reported by other customers who have a Dlink wifi router. If you do, please let us know and hopefully we can figure out what's going on, since it seems like the Dlink routers have been especially problematic.

If none of these things work then a last option would be to create an 'ad-hoc' network between your computer and your iPad which avoids the wifi router and transfer photos directly from iPad to computer (or vice versa).

Let us know how it goes.
Kind regards,

Hello,
Thanks for posting your question here. You mentioned that you were able to transfer photos one time, are you using the same wifi network as before? Please make sure that your device is connected to the same wifi network as your computer and also make sure that 'Photo Transfer' is running on your iPad when you attempt to connect to the address provided.

Also, it may help to simply quit the application and try connecting to the address again so the transfer web page reloads.

I hope this helps. Please let us know if you need any more help. We'll be happy to assist you.

Hi Daniel,
Thanks for posting your question here. To select multiple photos to upload from your PC to your device you need to hold the 'Ctrl' key on windows or the 'Apple' key on mac when selecting the photos.

I hope this helps. Let us know if you have any other question or comment.

Hello Jane,
Thanks for posting your question here. To transfer multiple photos from your computer to your iPad you need to go to the address that appears on the application and use the 'Upload' button on the transfer web page. Then, use the 'Ctrl' key on windows or the 'Apple' key on mac to be able to select multiple photos to transfer at one time. Basically when you click on one photo you need to press the 'Ctrl' key or the 'Apple' key to be able to select more than one.

Also we recommend to keep the number of photos stored on your iPad under 300 to avoid any performance problems. For now unfortunately we can only place photos in the 'Saved photos' album because of the Apple SDK restrictions.

I hope this helps. Let us know if you have any other question. We'll be happy to help.

Kind regards,

Hello David,
Thanks for posting your question here. Have you tried to transfer photos from the camera roll on your iPhone to the iPad. Here is another problem posted by another user that may be related to the issue you are having:

http://getsatisfaction.com/photo_tran...

Looks like some users are having problems transferring photos from outside the camera roll and they can't email those photos either which means that somehow the data of those photos is corrupted on the iPhone.

One thing to do is to synch again with iTunes or reboot the iphone. Another user suggested to delete the 'iTunes photo cache' folder on the computer and then sync again with iTunes.

I hope this helps. Please let us know your results trying to transfer photos from the camera roll and if you can email to yourself one photo from the same set that you tried to transfer.

Let us know how it goes. We'll be happy to help.

Hello TC,

Thanks for posting your feedback here. Yes, that is a good point, we will add this to our todo list and hopefully get it done for the next release of the app.

In the meantime there is another mechanism that could work instead of a password to protect the transfer web page a bit more. You could change the port number that our app uses to serve the web page to make it more complicated to "sniff" and find the transfer page.

Open the 'Settings' app on your iPhone/iPad and scroll down until you find the settings for our app ('Transfer'). Then change the port number to a number that you choose between 1024 and 9999. This could serve as your 'pin' to access the website. Please note that after changing the port number the address will also change and will end with a different number (currently by default is '8080').

This is not a very strong security mechanism as they can still scan all ports on the device IP address but it will at least make it more complicated.

Also, please note that your photos are only accessible while you run Photo Transfer App. If you close the app the website will not longer be available as the transfer web page is generated by our app only while running on your device.

I hope this is helpful. Thanks again for your feedback and let us know if you have any other suggestion or comment.

Kind regards,

Enrique

Hello TJ,

Thanks for posting your question here. I'm sorry you are having issues.

Are you selecting the new photos to transfer from the 'Photos' app? If yes, don't forget to touch the 'copy' button after you selected the photos to transfer inside of the 'photos' app. Also, please wait for a few seconds after you touch the copy button as sometimes the phone may take some time to copy all photos to the clipboard memory (wait until the buttons on the bottom bar come back to normal).

Also, one extra recommendation is to 'right-click' the 'Download all photos as zip file' link on the transfer web page instead of clicking it directly. Then, you should get a menu of options, choose 'Save linked file as' (or similar) to be able to choose the location on your hard drive where you want to save the new zip file.

I hope this helps. Please let us know if you continue having issues. We will be happy to provide more help.

Kind regards,

Enrique

Hello Will,

Just wanted to follow up with you to see if you had a chance to try the app using a different computer. We are still investigating this issue but we don't have any solid clues.

One other thing we could try doing is for you to install the debug version of the flash player on your computer to see if any error pops up. Here is the install link for the debugger version of flash player which is the same as the normal version but it gives you error information on the flash movies you load:

http://www.adobe.com/support/flashpla...

(download the one that says 'Download the Windows Flash Player 10.1 ActiveX control content debugger (for IE) (EXE, 2.93 MB)')

We have not been able to reproduce this issue here but we have couple of other customers experimenting the same problem so we are trying to understand how this is happening.

Thanks! Let me know if you have any other information.

Kind regards,

Enrique

Hi Jeni,

Thanks for posting your question here. You need to download the app on your iPhone and your iPad but you only pay once.

The app is a universal app so it runs on both your iPhone and your iPad. Basically when you buy it on your iPhone or on your iPad you can download it for FREE in the other device (as many times as you want actually). You can download the app in one device and then sync with iTunes to get the app on both devices or you can simply download it from the app store on each device.

Don't worry you will not get charged the second time, Apple knows that you own the app already so it will treat it as an Update and you won't be charged (even though it says 'buy') as long as you use the same iTunes account in both devices.

Let us know if you have any other question or comment. We'll be happy to help.

Kind regards,

Enrique
