Hi Norbert,

Thanks for posting your comment here. Unfortunately the current version of the iPad SDK does not provide a way for us to know the original name of your photos. The iPad assigns a new name to your photos when they are saved to the device according to an internal naming system which we can't control :(

There is already a feature request that was submitted to Apple to change this for the next version of the iPad SDK so we hope Apple will listen to it and make the necessary changes for the next iPad OS.

Sorry I didn't have better news. Let us know if you have any other questions or comments.

Kind regards,

Enrique

Hello,

Thanks for using Photo Transfer App and for posting your question here. It is normal that the video does not fill the screen completely. This is due to the fact that your iPhone shoots video at 720p HD which is equivalent to 1280×720 (wide screen).

The iPad resolution is 1024x768 so when the video is played it will get resized to fit the resolution of the ipad giving you a visible area of 1024x576. The strips that you are seeing are the result of this change of resolution.

I hope this makes sense. Please let us know if you have any other question or comment. We will be glad to answers your questions and hear your feedback.

Kind regards,

Enrique

Dear Dominique,

Thanks for posting your problem here. I'm sorry you are having problems with the app.

I would suggest you to close our app, open the 'Photos' app and go to the 'Saved photos' album. Then open our app and try the transfer process again. Sometimes the 'Photos' app needs to be opened before making a transfer to make sure that the photo database is updated. Opening the 'Photos' app forces the database to be updated.

Another suggestion would be to turn off your iPad and turn it back on. Maybe something is stuck on memory and restarting it could help.

I hope this helps. Please let us know if you continue having problems.

Kind regards,

Enrique

Dear Mike,

Thanks for posting your problem here. I don't think the connection problem is related to iOS4.3, we tested the app with the new OS and everything seemed just fine. We haven't heard other people having issues so I think it may be something related to your network.

I would suggest to try to reset your wifi router to make sure that all connections get refreshed. Sometimes routers get stuck with internal addresses so resetting your router may be a good thing to try. After you reset your router you need to join your network again from your iPhone and your computer and try the transfer process again.

I hope this helps. Please let us know when you have a chance to try this. We'll be happy to continue helping if you need.

Kind regards,

Enrique

Dear Mark,

Thanks for posting your question here. I'm sorry you are having problems with the app.

I would recommend you to double check that your device and computer are connected to the same wifi network as sometimes the iPhone/iPad may join automatically another nearby network. Also, are you using a home wifi network or a public wifi network? Please note that some public wifi networks are configured to block communication between devices.

If you verified that they are in the same wifi network then you could try using the alternate address that appears on your device when you launch our app (the one that says for Windows computers with a few numbers) which should also work with Mac computers. Please note that sometimes it takes couple of attempts to establish communication.

Also, please make sure that you keep the app running on your device and that you type the address exactly as it appears on the app including the 'http://' and the ':8080' parts.

Finally, you could also try resetting your wifi router to make sure that all connections get refreshed. After you reset the wifi router you need to join the network again on your device and computer and try the transfer process again.

I hope this helps. Please let us know if you continue having problems, if you do please send us the address that you are getting to check if it looks ok and give us some details about your wifi network and your computer. We will be very happy to help.

Kind regards,

Enrique

Hi James,
We are planning an update for early next week. We have identified the issue and we are currently testing the solution. I will post something here next week when the update is out.

Happy St. Patrick's day! :)

Regards,

Enrique
Dear James,

Thanks for posting your problem here. Did you transfer photos from iPhone to computer? When you transfer photos from iPhone to computer our software creates a temporary zip file that contains your photos, that's the zip file that is sent to your computer. What is most likely happening is that the zip file is not being deleted after the transfer. We are reviewing the code and we will fix this as soon as possible.

In the meantime, there are couple of very quick ways to get the memory space back. The first one is to simply transfer couple of photos from iPhone to PC using the 'Download all photos as zip file' link. This will erase the temporary directory freeing the space from the previous transfer. The second way to free the space is to simply uninstall the app and re-install it. This will remove all files from the application and should get your space back. You can install the app again using the 'App store' on your device - don't worry you will not be charged to download the app again.

I hope this helps. I apologize about this issue, we will take action right now to correct it. Let us know if you have any other question or comment.

Best regards,

Enrique

Unfortunately not, I wish Apple had changed something related to album management on iOS 4.3 but they didn't which is bad news for us. Now we will have to wait for iOS 5 to see if they add some programming interfaces to organize and manage albums. Kind regards.
Hello,

Thanks for posting your question here. I'm not completely sure I understand the question but you can definitely transfer photos and videos from your iPad 2 to your computer (and vice versa). You can also send photos and videos from iPhone to iPad.

You can visit our website where you can find more information and a few videos about the app:

I hope this helps you. Let us know if you need more help.

Hi Jesse,

Thanks for contacting us. I'm sorry you are having problems with the app.

The MOV video format is a "container" format which means that it may have been created using different codecs. Some video codecs are not compatible with the iPad (even when they are in MOV format) which may lead to this problem. Where are your video files coming from?

There are couple of things to try however. First one is to try to open the 'Photos' app before you start a transfer to make sure that the photo catalog is up to date. Opening the photos app forces the database to get updated which is sometimes necessary before starting a transfer, then, try to transfer your videos again.

If the problem persists even after opening the 'Photos' app before the transfer then you can try this:

1. Open the 'Settings' app on your device and scroll down until you find our app ('Transfer')

2. Change the switch for 'Use old saving APIs' to ON and close the settings app.

Doing this will tell our application to use the old programming interfaces provided by Apple to save your videos. We noticed that the new interface provided by Apple was having problems saving some videos and that's why we implemented this workaround.

I hope this helps. Please let me know how it goes after trying these 2 things. I look forward to hearing your results.

Kind regards,

Enrique
