"The video you tried to transfer is not compatible..."

I understand that the videos need to be in .MOV format and under 400mg. So every time I try to get a file from my PC to the Ipad nothing happens. Does the .MOV need to be a mpeg4 codec or something?
Hi Jesse,

Thanks for contacting us. I'm sorry you are having problems with the app.

The MOV video format is a "container" format which means that it may have been created using different codecs. Some video codecs are not compatible with the iPad (even when they are in MOV format) which may lead to this problem. Where are your video files coming from?

There are couple of things to try however. First one is to try to open the 'Photos' app before you start a transfer to make sure that the photo catalog is up to date. Opening the photos app forces the database to get updated which is sometimes necessary before starting a transfer, then, try to transfer your videos again.

If the problem persists even after opening the 'Photos' app before the transfer then you can try this:

1. Open the 'Settings' app on your device and scroll down until you find our app ('Transfer')

2. Change the switch for 'Use old saving APIs' to ON and close the settings app.

Doing this will tell our application to use the old programming interfaces provided by Apple to save your videos. We noticed that the new interface provided by Apple was having problems saving some videos and that's why we implemented this workaround.

I hope this helps. Please let me know how it goes after trying these 2 things. I look forward to hearing your results.

Kind regards,

Enrique

Hi I have a similar problem. I want to transfer a video takend with my iPhone 4Gs to my iPad 1 with ios5. I get the error "The video you tried to transfer is not compatible..." . I already tried to change the switch for 'Use old saving APIs' to ON. I did it in both devices. What else I can try? Thanks.
Hmmm,

Well one main problem I had was leaving the browser open while transferring, but i don't think you need to do this for mobile to mobile.

Maybe try transferring the video to a computer first then to your ipad instead of your iphone directly to the ipad.

Good luck
I tried thru the computer but that didn't work. Look at this post by Enrique http://getsatisfaction.com/photo_tran...
As Enrique mentioned this is an issue the 1080p resolution. Tried with a video taken with the other camera on the iphone and the video gets transfered with no problem.
Hi everyone,

Just wanted to give you an update on the video transfer issues. We submitted an update to Apple couple of days ago and we are still waiting for them to review it. We hope they will do that soon. The update should fix the issues of uploading videos from computer to device as well as video transfers from iPhone 4S to iPad 1 and iPhone 4S to iPhone 4 or 3GS.

Thanks again for your patience! I will post something here as soon as we hear from Apple.

Kind regards,

Enrique

You can also use a FREE video converter I found, called Handbrake.
It has iDevice presets and let's you select .m4v as the codec extension.

I tried it to convert an .avi video to the .m4v format and it worked to transfer from my PC to the iPad2, very well. (a 13 minute video at 640x480 resolution)

Also, don't forget to adjust the transfer Apps settings on the iDevice in case your video is larger than the default setting allows. :-)

See the free converter program at...
http://handbrake.fr

They have it for Windows and Mac, and some other platforms too... And supports 720p. ... Oh joy!
