Dear Jerome,

Thanks for posting your question here. I'm sorry I didn't get back to you earlier. This is a good idea but connecting 2 devices across 2 different networks is something that is not currently possible with our app. Right now the app requires both devices to be connected to the same wifi network. However, we are exploring some ideas on how to make remote transfers possible as it is definitely something that can be very useful for a lot of people.

I hope our app can still be useful to you! Let us know if you have other comments.

Best regards,

Enrique

Hey gvidid1,

Thanks a lot for all your feedback and your help on the forum. Sorry for not getting back earlier, I wanted to take some time to answer to your post. I totally agree with you that sometimes entering the IP address into the browser causes a lot of confusion and believe me is an issue that I've been thinking a lot on how to resolve. We have several ideas on improving this, one of them was releasing the Mac client that discovers devices automatically:

http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/photo-...

I think we should improve on providing better help on how to make sure that both devices are on the same wifi network and how to troubleshoot when the connection can't be established. The issue is that sometimes is simply due to the configuration of the router specially when trying to connect on a Hotel/Corporate/Coffee shop network because on that situation is simply not possible to change anything.

Unfortunately it is not possible to show the name of the router that the user is connected to, that information is not available, nor it is possible to run a wifi scan to look for other routers nearby with the API's provided by Apple. And in general most users are not very technical so changing the configuration or routers maybe something too complicated.

I agree with you regarding the transfer of videos over bluetooth and I like the idea of the cable transfer but we will have to make sure that it does not confuse people given that the app is promoted as 'no cables required' :)

There are other developments that we are planning to do which I think will help a lot but I wouldn't want to discuss here for now but I hope we can announce them soon.

Thanks again for all your feedback! We are working hard to try to solve some of this issues and make the app better, faster and stronger :)

Cheers,

Enrique

Hello Andy, gvdid1,

I'm sorry to enter the discussion a bit late. Looks like you've been trying somethings to get it to work. I just did some quick research about the cisco router and it seems that is quite a sophisticated router with lots of configuration parameters. I couldn't find anything very specific but I think it should be something quite simple to enable to allow communication between devices connected to it. When the devices can't communicate between each other it means that the routers "isolates" each device and prevents traffic to go from one to another directly. I found couple of links that may be helpful on the Cisco website:

I'm no expert on configuring cisco routers so I'm afraid that I can provide little help with this. I hope the links are useful somehow, I'll try to do some more research and I will post something here if I find something useful.

Kind regards,

Enrique

Hello Annette,

The answer provided by 'gvdid1' is totally correct. The reason why the photos are transferred as a zip file is to provide a way to download multiple photos at one time from the web browser to your computer. Web browser dont' offer a way to start multiple downloads at one time so our app first zips your photos and provides you with a link to download them.

One other suggestion after you transfer the zip file you can right-click on the downloaded zip file and then choose 'Extract...' this will create a new folder with all your photos inside of it, then you can copy your photos wherever you want on your hard drive.

I hope this is helpful! Let us know if you have any other questions or comments.

Kind regards,

Enrique

:) So sorry!... I always get confused between the two! Yes, a ':' colon is correct! I think I need another double shot coffee! Thanks for clarifying this!
Hello,

Thanks for posting your question here. Sorry you are having problems with the app. I hope the comment above was useful to you (thanks to 'gvdid1'). Let us know if you continue having problems. One important thing to check is that your iPad and your computer are connected to the same wifi network - sometimes the iPad may join a nearby wifi connection automatically.

Also, you may want to try using a different web browser to check if that helps. And as gvdid1 suggested please make sure that you are typing the entire address including the ':8080' part (note that there is a semicolon ':' before the 8080 and not a period).

We will be happy to continue assisting you.

Kind regards,

Enrique

Dear Jan,

Thanks for contacting us. You can definitely transfer photos from another Mac computer to your iPad, it does not have to be your own Mac computer. When you tried to transfer from your friend's computer, did you use the same wifi network as when you transferred with your computer? Please note that some public wifi networks are configured to block communication between devices which may be causing the problem that you are having. Please let us know the type of wifi network you are using and we will try to help you figure this out.

Kind regards,

Enrique

Dear Cheri,

Thanks for contacting us. You don't have to install anything on your Windows computer. You only need a web browser to transfer your photos. Simply open the app on your iPhone or iPad and then go to the address provided by the app using your computer's web browser like Internet Explorer, Firefox or Google Chrome. Then a web page will load and you will be able to transfer your photos using that web page.

I hope this helps you! Let us know if you need more help or assistance.

Best,

Enrique

Dear Barry,

I'm sorry you are having problems with the app. Are you able to transfer photos using your wifi hotspot? If yes, then, can you tell us how long is the video that you are trying to transfer?

Best,

Enrique

Nice process! The new iPad has such a beautiful display that is great for photo processing, have you tried some of the apps for photo editing on the iPad? I think there is a version of Photoshop for iPad and other cool apps that let you do effects and some basic editing.

I'm glad Photo Transfer App has been useful to you. Let me know if you find something that would make your workflow better, faster, easier, we really appreciate feedback from users.

Thanks!

Cheers,

Enrique
