I am having a problem getting my iPhone 5 to communicate with an ipad 2. We get the message 'please authorise the connection on 'null' and try again'. Help! What do I do?

The pc is connected to the iPad
The ipad app says "connected"
The pc app says "loading thumbnails"
it never finds thumbnails or albums

I've installed this app on my iphone and my ipad. The app on my iphone seems to work fine. But the app on my ipad opens to the intro only and does let me access any of the functions. I've tried deleting and re-installing the app, as well as switching off and on my ipad but the app is still stuck on the intro. Please help.
