You can use the free converter called "Handbrake" available at...

http://handbrake.fr/

For Mac and Windows, and even Linux platforms.

It even supports 720p and has presets for the iDevices made to use already.

Isn't the Internet great? :-)
Try increasing "Maximum Video Duration (seconds)" to a higher number.

I made mine 5000 seconds which is around 83 minutes long video.
Most likely more than you'll need, but it's good to have it more than less.

This setting is above the setting for the interface you just changed in the Transfer Settings section.

You may be able to keep the original video length when you change this setting, without shrinking it with a conversion.
Hi Enrique,
WOW...iOS 5 ... I can hardly wait :). Any time frame for the iOS release?
Did they include background Multi-tasking in it? :)
Unless they swore you to secrecy about it, please tell the new features soon. :)

Anyway, about the Multi-transfer photo zipped file, being too big to send, ...
How about creating an option to make split zip files, the way WinRAR does it.
If the total size is too big, it has an option to split the large file into smaller sized ones and then combines the files when all are uncompressed again.

For example ... Photo.zip ... Photo.zip.01 ... Photo.zip.02 ... etc... :)

So, clicking on the main first file will look for and open the next, then the next... etc... Until all original files are uncompressed, as they originally were.

I'd rather not have ONLY mediumRES as an option. But, with iOS 5 ... Knowing Apple, they may have gone backwards, making more restrictions ... :(

If not, a temp folder can be created in the iDevice for the zip splitting.

Oh well, I'm sure you'll figure something out. You always do! :-)

ooOooooOOo just another thought, please also add audio file transfer support.
Not for just what's made within the iDevice, but to also "import" audio files from a PC or other device as well... If possible. :) like an MP3 recorder... Or other type of non-apple file., again ... if possible , given Apple restrictions!

Bye.
If you can get them to your computer, you can then transfer them using the App, to the iDevice.

As far as I know, this App only works between photos and videos already to / from a computer or iDevice, and iDevice to / from iDevice.

It doesn't download from the Internet sites like Facebook ... Etc.

Usually, if you can see the full-Res picture on Facebook, you may be able to right-mouse-button click over the picture, and select the option from that little menu saying "save target as", then put it to your hard drive, where you want it ...

Then, from your computer, you can transfer to the iDevice, using the App.

I think, however, only JPG files will transfer to the iDevice. For pictures.
Hi Thomas,
First, I'm not an employee of this company, just another App customer, as yourself.

This App does work, but sometimes connection issues arise for different users, that need special attention, such as now.

The issue can be as simple as maybe you are closing the App screen, by moving to a different App, or waiting too long and the iDevice goes into sleep mode, before connecting with the other device / PC, ...
... or more complex issues and / or fixes shown in the post at this link ...
http://getsatisfaction.com/photo_tran...

I've added several examples of possible connection faults or settings to look for regarding LAN issues. (router related "Local Access Network") as well as suggesting iDevice settings, and Enrique has many listed there, as well.

If one of those do not solve your issue, Enrique can help further, or I can, if I'm seeing your post first.

Please believe me, ... this App does work, ... proven by less than 1% of all reviews being one or two star negative reviews, off ALL App versions.

Also, ... NO, this service is not a joke... In fact, you don't need to use any "servers" connected to this App's company. It all takes place within your own internal router connection.

Regarding your question, why make an account here to get answers for a complaint? ...
(Answer) So others can benefit from the most helpful answers, and the developer can keep overhead low, keeping the App prices reasonable.

Imagine if 1000 people asked the same question, ... 1000 eMails need to be sent out, maybe multiple times with replies back and forth. ... With this system, 100's of thousands can also see the answer, and get the problem fixed quicker.

Enrique is off on the weekend, and an eMail wouldn't be answered until at least Monday, or later. Customers, such as myself, may see your post and answer it, anytime. This also helps this developer keep a happy customer, and I don't mind answering, 'cause I'm already a happy customer. :-)

Please post here, again, if one of the items in the other link, above, solves your connection issues, so we all know for sure, and if it doesn't, or you're not understanding something listed there, post back here with additional questions.

Regards.
That's good to know, Enrique. Sorry for getting it wrong for this answer.
I hope I didn't confuse this customer. I didn't know device to device transfers keep all data intact, if no browser is used.
Hi, have you tried to download the videos as a zip file?

I know when the photos are downloaded that way, they retain the time-date stamp, it could be the same for videos.

When downloading as separate files the date is changed to the time-date of that new transfer.

You can select several videos, then use the link that says "Download as a zip file".

Let me know if this helps.

I think Enrique is working on keeping the single downloads time-date stamp, as well, in the next update.

By the way, if you right-mouse-button click over that zip file download link, and highlight the option saying save file to target, you can also choose where to put the zip file on your system... This is for windows based operating systems, I'm not sure with Mac systems.
Hi thanks for the info.
Do the transferred videos, when sync'd, wind up in the videos section of the iPad?

I tried this but couldn't get it to move anywhere on the iPad2.
Maybe my format wasn't the correct one...
I'll have to try converting to h264 .MOV files.
I'd really like to put my Canon HFs10 HD videos on my iPad2 , to show around.

Can you put them in the photos section too, or just videos section?
If you can sync them to the photos section folder as well, then the App can work for you to transfer to another iDevice.

I hope you have another chance to give your father the videos you had for him.
Also, I truly understand how the "moment has passed" and the excitement is gone, regarding the purchase :(
I truly understand your frustration at present. Maybe the Apps description should make this clearer too, I'd have to look at it again, I never got that idea from it.

But, I'm still wondering how you put the videos on the iPad in the first place, being the present iPad iOS doesn't support it. I've tried too. And have complained to Apple about it as well.

Does using the iTunes syncing on the computer work for this? If so, I always thought iOS4 just supported non-professional video formats, converted to a special resolution size and video format.

Edit-
I did have another look at the App description, and yes I do agree with you, it's a bit vague on video transfer options, and from where videos are seen on the device, and what files types are supported. That's why impulse purchases are sometimes disappointing, if you had time, you could have asked first.

I really don't think Enrique wanted to mislead anyone, or was his intention to be deceptive, the product is mainly for photos, but the description could be made clearer regarding video files as well.

To Enrique- maybe updating the description is a good idea before updating the App.
At the present time, the App can move videos from iPad to iPad but from the photos section only. I'm also waiting for the update that may allow selection of folders, for transfer of videos and photos, to and from iDevices and PC's

Enrique said, the new iOS 5 update will allow more options for photo and video manipulation, and his App update will make use of it. You didn't make the wrong decision in your purchase of this App, the update will be wild.

Can I ask, how were you able to load the .mp4 .h264 and .mov files to your iPad now?

Was it by way of iTunes from your computer? Syncing the system?

If so, then I would think the new update to this App will support the transfer to another iPad, or other iDevice or PC.

I'm also looking to do the same thing, and decided to use this App for what it does now, because it was the ONLY one that worked well, so far, for what it does, so far. Believe me, you didn't waste your money.

Limitations in the iOS 4 restrict features with it at present. This App is the most stable of all of them so far, and the v3.0 update, using iOS 5, will do much more.
:-)
