iOS 4 Video transfer doesn't retain video time stamps

Great app. I noticed that when I just transferred photos & videos from my iPhone 4 to my iPad 2, the photos' data like time/date taken were retained — however on the videos, they were not. Is this an issue with iOS? Will this be fixed soon? Thanks.
Hi, have you tried to download the videos as a zip file?

I know when the photos are downloaded that way, they retain the time-date stamp, it could be the same for videos.

When downloading as separate files the date is changed to the time-date of that new transfer.

You can select several videos, then use the link that says "Download as a zip file".

Let me know if this helps.

I think Enrique is working on keeping the single downloads time-date stamp, as well, in the next update.

By the way, if you right-mouse-button click over that zip file download link, and highlight the option saying save file to target, you can also choose where to put the zip file on your system... This is for windows based operating systems, I'm not sure with Mac systems.
Hello,

Thanks for posting your question here. When you transfer from iPhone to iPad all the header data (like timestamp, GPS, etc) should be retained on photos and videos. How are you reading the time and date of your photos/videos on your iPad?

One important thing is to transfer the videos and photos from iPhone to iPad using the app on both devices. We have noticed that some people are using safari on the iPad to transfer their photos, in that case the video timestamp may be lost but if you are using our app on your iPhone and your iPad to transfer the videos then the header data should remain intact.

I hope this helps you. Please let me know if you need more help, I will be happy to assist you.

Regards,

Enrique

That's good to know, Enrique. Sorry for getting it wrong for this answer.
I hope I didn't confuse this customer. I didn't know device to device transfers keep all data intact, if no browser is used.
No problem. Like always, thanks for your help!
Hi there and thanks for the reply,

I was using the Photo Transfer App on both my iPad and iPhone (newest versions of the app & iOS on each). I was transferring photos & videos from my iPhone to my iPad. Strangely, the location data transferred over correctly on the videos to my iPad. Photos transferred completely fine with location & date/time info. However, the date/time information on my videos was incorrect. The videos had the date/time of the time I transferred the videos from my iPhone to my iPad, rather the time that the videos were taken.

I noticed this both in how the videos were organized in Photos on my iPad (since they sort by date) and also when I later imported them into iPhoto on my Mac from my iPad.

Thank you,
Jesse
Hi Jesse,

Thanks for the extra information. I just added this to our revision list, we are actually preparing an update for the app and I will make sure that we can fix this. Currently the photos and videos are transferred separately so it may be that you first transferred the photos and then the videos which would cause the ordering problem.

Let us know if you have any other comment or suggestion. We appreciate your feedback to make the app better.

Regards,

Enrique
