Your comments

Hello,

Thanks for contacting us. This is a good one. We are investigating this but basically it comes down to how the camera app saves the images. When you take an image there are 3 versions of the image that are generated: a thumbnail, a 'full screen resolution' version which is used to be displayed when you look at your photos in the 'Photos' app, and a 'full resolution image' which is the unmodified image taken by the camera. Unfortunately the full resolution version (the one that we transfer) does not have the filters applied to it. Only the thumbnail and the full resolution version have the filters applied.

To verify this you can connect your iPhone to your Mac via cable and launch 'Image Capture' and you will see that the image that you can extract from there is also the unmodified version.

We are looking into this to try to re-apply the filter before the transfer to the full res image. The filter information seems to be stored as part of the metadata of the photo so we could potentially use it to re-apply the filter but we are still running tests on that. In the meantime you can transfer the medium resolution image which will have the filter applied to it.

Let us know if you have other comments or questions.

Best regards,

Enrique

Hi Drew,

Thanks for contacting us. What iPad do you have and what version of iOS is it running? This error means that somehow the native Photos app is not accepting the video because it is in a format that the iPad does not understand or because the 'Photos' app can't write it to its database. We were seeing this problem more often on iOS5 and iOS6 but it seems to be improved on iOS7.

One thing to try is to simply open the 'Photos' app on your iPad and take a new photo for example to make sure that the photos database is updated and then try the transfer again. Also, check that you have enough space available on your iPad before you start the transfer.

And a final suggestion is to simply reboot the iPad to make sure that everything is refreshed as we also have seen this to help with this problem happens.

Let me know if one of these things helped!

Enrique

HI Aaron,

Thanks for all the information. We are investigating the issue and we think we found the potential cause. We will implement a solution and do some testing to roll out a fix asap. If you want to help us with the testing let us know and we can send you a beta version of the app so you can test it. Send us an email to support [at] phototransferapp [dot] com if you want to get the beta.

Thanks again for your help and sorry for this issue.

Best,

Enrique
Hi Hong,

Thanks for contacting us. The app transfers full resolution photos always. It does not matter when you took the photos (before or after installing the app). The photo files are transferred in the exact same resolution as they are stored on the device.

Please check that the photos are stored in full resolution on your device. Also, when transferring from iPhone to iPad there is a switch on the last screen before initiating the transfer that lets you change from transferring in full or medium resolution, make sure that is set to full resolution -- by default it is always on medium resolution.

I hope this helps.

Let us know if you have other questions or comments.

Hi Robert,

Thanks for contacting us. I'm sorry you are having trouble with the app. We are looking into this issue. We are looking into this issue and it seems that once you entered the iPhone manually the app is remembering the device and if it appears on the network with the same address it will show again. Here is one workaround, uninstall the app and then you will need to remove the settings manually as well by deleting this folder:

C:\Documents and Settings\\Application Data\Adobe\AIR\ELS\com.erclab.air.phototransferapp

That will get rid off the manually entered devices and you should start fresh.

Thanks for pointing out this issue. Let me know if it worked.

Best,

Enrique

Dear Mike,

Thanks for contacting us. We've made some tests and we found a bug that is preventing some files to be deleted from the documents folder after the transfer is over. We've solved the issue and we will be pushing an update within the next few days. I sincerely apologize for this issue. In the meantime what you can do is to simply delete the app from your device and install it again, that will clear the storage space taken by it. You will not be charged again to install the app on your device.

Again, I apologize for this and I thank you for your patience.

Kind regards,

Enrique

Hi Paul,

I'm glad to hear that. Let me know if you have any further questions. Have a great week!

Hi Paul,

Thanks for the feedback. That's strange, did you select to download the photos in full resolution? The app should choose the full resolution images, in fact, iOS stores 3 different sizes of photos: full resolution, medium resolution (the one displayed on the screen) and thumbnail. Our app takes the full resolution version and downloads it to your computer. Can you try with another set of photos to see if you have the same result? Let me know.

Kind regards,

Enrique

Dear Paul,

Thanks for posting your question here. That's strange, the photos should transfer in full resolution without any modification. How did you check the size of the photos on your iPhone? Also, did you take those photos using your iPhone or were they imported from somewhere else or edited with an app? Let us know so we can understand where the problem may be.

Kind regards,

Enrique
