New IOS filters

Pictures with filters included in the new IOS are not exported with those filters when sent from my iPhone to my Mac.
Hello,

Thanks for contacting us. This is a good one. We are investigating this but basically it comes down to how the camera app saves the images. When you take an image there are 3 versions of the image that are generated: a thumbnail, a 'full screen resolution' version which is used to be displayed when you look at your photos in the 'Photos' app, and a 'full resolution image' which is the unmodified image taken by the camera. Unfortunately the full resolution version (the one that we transfer) does not have the filters applied to it. Only the thumbnail and the full resolution version have the filters applied.

To verify this you can connect your iPhone to your Mac via cable and launch 'Image Capture' and you will see that the image that you can extract from there is also the unmodified version.

We are looking into this to try to re-apply the filter before the transfer to the full res image. The filter information seems to be stored as part of the metadata of the photo so we could potentially use it to re-apply the filter but we are still running tests on that. In the meantime you can transfer the medium resolution image which will have the filter applied to it.

Let us know if you have other comments or questions.

Best regards,

Enrique
Photo Transfer App
Great reply. Thanks!
Hi,

I'm looking for an app with this feature as iPhoto does not download the pictures with filters. Could you please let me know if you can do this in this app now as this would be the primary use of it in my case.

Thanks!

Alex
Hello!

Currently this is not possible on the current version of Photo Transfer App. You can transfer photos in Medium resolution ( using the web interface ) to get photos with filters and edit but not via our desktop app.

Our next update should be able to do this in a couple of weeks!

Best,

Amber
