Hi Corey,

Does the app show up under the 'Settings' app > Privacy > Photos ?? It should be listed as 'Transfer'. Also, what happens when you go inside of the app to 'Send' > Device > 'Select photos' ? Does the app ask for permission to access your photos?

Let me know.

Best regards,

Enrique
Dear Corey,

We had another user having the same problem and the issue was the 'restrictions' settings. Try this:

Go to the 'Settings' app on your iPad, then to General > Restrictions,(enter passcode) > Photos and check allow changes.  Then try re-installing our app from the app store and it will ask you to enable access to photos.

I hope this helps you!

Kind regards,

Enrique
Hi John,

Thanks for sharing your feedback. Interesting, we specifically not included this because we thought the auto-discovery is much easier. Most likely your network is blocking the bonjour broadcast used by our app to discover devices which is an exception. We will think about this and see if there is an easy way to integrate manual entry on the Mac app. For now you can use the web browser when you are at work :(

Let us know if you have other questions or comments.

Kind regards,

Enrique
Hi Roy,

So sorry for the long delay responding to you! The videos in mp4 format should be compatible with your iPad. I wonder if your android device is using a different video codec that is causing the problem.

It is normal that the transfer takes longer for videos as they are bigger files and it is also normal unfortunately that the error comes at the end of the transfer since we need to first get the entire file and then try to save it to the photos app. The error comes when we try to save it to the photos database and unfortunately Apple does not provide a more descriptive error when a problem saving to the photos database happens although usually this error means that the file being saved is not compatible with the device.

All the versions that you mentioned are the latest so that can't be the problem. I'm afraid it has to do with the video not being compatible on the iPad although I just ran a test to transfer from a Galaxy nexus to an iPad Air and worked ok :/ I'm a bit puzzled with this one.

A good test would be to put that video somewhere else like in Dropbox or Google Drive and try to save it from there to the device. Or to transfer the video to a computer first and then try to upload it from there to the iPad. Perhaps you have a chance to try this? Let me know.

Regards,

Enrique
Hi Linda, Doug,

We are in the latest testing phase of the new version of the app that hopefully resolves this issue on your devices. We would love to have your feedback on the new version of the app to make sure that this issue is resolved. We can include you on the beta tester program so you can install the updated app before it is released. For this I would just need you to send us your email address so I can send you an invite to the beta program. You can send us an email to: support@phototransferapp.com and then I will send you the invite and the simple instructions to install the app.

Thanks in advance!

Enrique
Hi Doug,

Can you tell me if the photos that are transferring in smaller size were edited perhaps on the device? We are aware of a bug on iOS 8.0 where the photos that were edited don't return their full resolution version. Also, what version of iOS are you running? Have you installed the latest update from Apple (8.1.3)?

Best,

Enrique
Hi Doug,

One of my responses above may be the solution for you. Check on your iPhone 5S if you enabled 'iCloud Photo Library':

Settings > iCloud > Photos > iCloud Photo Library

Let me know if you have that enabled please. When you enable this setting all your photos are automatically uploaded to the iCloud Photo Library and the full resolution version of your photos are removed from your device. In this case you can disable the setting for 'Optimize iPhone storage' which will re-download the full res versions of your photos from the cloud to the device.

Let me know and again my apologies for the big delay getting back to you.

Best,

Enrique
Photo Transfer App
If you enabled iCloud Photo Library then ALL your photos will be saved on iCloud and the originals will be deleted from your device by default. There is one option to keep the originals on the device as well. To do that go to the Settings app > iCloud > Photos  and enable the switch for "Download and keep originals". This will then download the photos again back to your device and they should be available on the 'All photos' album.

Please note that getting the photos back to the device after you change this setting may take some time and there is no really a way to know the progress. So enable the setting and wait some time to get the photos back on the device.

I hope this helps! Let us know how it goes.

Best,

Enrique
Hi Marte. Please check the previous comments on this thread and let us know if you also enabled 'iCloud Photo Library'.

Kind regards,

Enrique
