All steps work until I get to the IP, but I can never find the IP address.

Samuel Settle 14 years ago updated 12 years ago 45
New user question. I am able to select the pictures, copy, go to the program, and it shows 50 pictures (or amount X) and then it says to go to IP X. However, the browser can never find the IP address it is asking for, specifically the :8080 part of it. Any ideas?

Can't connect to the address provided

Enrique Rodriguez 14 years ago updated 12 years ago 103
Here are some tips to help you troubleshoot a connection problem

* Make sure that your iPhone/iPad and your computer are connected to the same wifi network

* Make sure that Photo Transfer App is running and the screen is active when you try to access the address provided on your iPhone/iPad

* Type the address on your computer's web browser exactly as it appears in the application including the 'http://' part. Note that the address may change every time you open the app (do not bookmark the address).

* Make sure your iPhone/iPad and your computer have good wifi signal

* Some streaming services like an ongoing Skype call or an Internet Radio Stream may affect the connection. Please try to turn them off and try to access the website again.

Transfer from iPhone 4

Elisar Cabrera 15 years ago updated 12 years ago 14
Hi, am using the App on iPhone 4 and iPad. It works transferring photos from my iPad to iPhone 4 but not the other way round from iPhone 4 to iPad - which is obviously the more important one for me.

Does PT transfer RAW files?

olafwilloughby 14 years ago updated 11 years ago 28
Hi. Great app! One question. I shoot RAW + jpeg and transfer to my iPad via the camera connector. When I use Photo Transfer to upload from iPad to my Mac desktop it seems to transfer only the jpegs, not the RAWs. Am I doing something wrong? Or is there a workaround? Thx.

Are you planning to add transfer video as well? Looks like this app only for transferring photos.

Connection problems at hotels and other public networks

Enrique Rodriguez 14 years ago 0
Some networks have a 'firewall' installed that blocks the communication layer that Photo Transfer App uses.

If you are staying at a Hotel or are using a public network and you can't connect to the address provided on the application please try creating an 'ad-hoc' (direct) network between your computer and your device. Here are the instructions on how to do it using different computers:

Windows Vista:

http://getsatisfaction.com/photo_transfer_app/topics/create_an_ad_hoc_network_using_a_windows_vista_computer

Windows XP:

http://getsatisfaction.com/photo_transfer_app/topics/create_an_ad_hoc_network_using_a_windows_xp_computer

Or, Mac:

http://getsatisfaction.com/photo_transfer_app/topics/create_an_ad_hoc_network_using_a_mac_computer

Let us know if you have any question or problem when creating the 'ad-hoc' network.

Kind regards,
