Do I need iTunes on my PC?

Rayne 13 years ago updated 13 years ago 3
This will be the deciding factor of wheter I buy this app or not.
I don't have iTunes on my laptop, nor can I connect my iPod 4g to my laptop (due to it being returned from getting fixed with Win 7...and my external hdd with iPod backup is not compatable with Win 7). Can I transfer my photos and videos from my iPod 4 to my laptop using this app without iTunes?

Batch Transfer Errors, Album Modification, Moving Pictures.

mcuenco 13 years ago 0
Good Evening,

I've been using the app for a some time now and love the continued enhancements, but I'm finding a few issues that I'm having while transferring photos from Macbook Pro (Intel Core 2 Duo, OSX 10.6.8) to the new 2012 iPad (iOS 5.1):

1) During multiple batch loads of photos greater than 20-30 files, that an "error" occurs and states that a picture is not compatible (using web interface on Safari). I try and select continue, but then the transfer seems to get stuck as the file transfer process appears to be working, but the number of files does not change (ex: 39 of 72). After five to ten minutes, I cancel the transfer, and attempt to reload and re-select the photos to upload. I found that in the camera roll, that I now have hundreds of duplicates after attempting to re-upload multiple times. Some, but not all pics upload into the selected Album. Other times, I have no idea where the pictures went- usually I find them after scrolling thru hundreds of Photos on the iPad in the camera roll, or they go to an album created under "Events."

2) Albums created through the web interface (via Macbook Pro) or the Free Transfer APP are not always displaying correctly or updating photos to the correct album. On the device (iPad) I noticed that there are multiple null(o) albums that are created and the photos are found in the Camera Roll (or Events Gallery) even though a different album is created and selected for destination upload.

3) Once an album is created, and photos are uploaded to it, Is there a way to edit albums (delete albums), or move photos between albums in the Transfer APP on the Computer or on the device?

4) Is there a way for this APP to detect duplicate photo or video files, and to provide an option to not download the duplicate and continue with the rest of the transfer?

Transferring from ipad3 to MacBook pro large video file. No option to choose full resolution. The file received is much smaller than original and is unreadable.

Suggestion: Auto transfer photos and videos to my Mac's iPhoto.

David Hopkins 13 years ago 0
I have a suggestion. I think the Photo Transfer App is great for transferring photos and particularly videos between iOS devices. The UI for transferring to my Mac is really clunky and I will never use it. My suggestion is that you make it so that I am able to transfer pictures direct to my computer from my iPhone where they would be placed straight into iPhoto (I use a Mac).

Eye-fi cards do this and it is pretty sweet. When you come home all you need to do is have your camera and your and your computer on and your photos transfer in the background automatically.

The app is great. Thanks.

Large Video Transfers

Janice Murray 13 years ago updated 13 years ago 2
I have an iphone 4S and an ipad 2. I am trying to transfer a video file, from the iphone to the ipad, of a video that was recorded on the iphone. The file is a little over 2 GB (about 14min.). There is a smaller video, taken from the same event, that transferred perfectly. Is there a size limitation to the videos that can be transferred using this app?
