I'm sorry you are having problems with the app. Did you verify that both devices are connected to the same wifi network? If yes, is it a home wifi network or a public wifi hotspot? Please note that some wifi hotspots like at Hotels or Restaurants may block communication between devices.

Yes, we are working on the next update of the app which should address this issue. We've been trying to replicate it and seems to be an issue in iOS8. We've done lots of tests and we've been able to replicate it only on photos that have been edited (cropped, applied filters). Today Apple released an update to iOS version 8.1.2. Please try updating your devices to the latest version of iOS released today and let us know if you keep experimenting the same problem, we hope they address this issue with their photos API.

Hi John,

Sorry for not responding earlier. Did you use the backup feature to transfer all those files or did you manually transfer them? Also, please check that your iPad has enough free space as the app may need to use some space to create temporary files during the transfer.

You can also double check that all files are transferred by matching the number of photos on each folder to the number of photos on your albums in the iPad.

You do need to install the app on all devices, however you will only pay once for the app to be installed on the iPhone, then as long as you are using the same iTunes account you will be able to install it on the iPad for free. The desktop appps (for Mac and windows) are free. Here is a link to download the app for your iPhone/iPad:

Hi Chad,

Sorry for the delay answering to you. Yes definitely, the app will work using the hotspot feature of your iPhone. Simply turn on the hotspot feature of your device and then join the network from your other device. Then PTA should work as if you were on a normal wifi network to transfer photos to your computer.

And you can use bluetooth to transfer between iPad air and iPhone 5s when you don't have access to a wifi network. You could also use the same hotspot connection to transfer photos.
