Hi, Stan
I'm discussing this very thing at this other thread.
https://getsatisfaction.com/photo_tra...

And I've had 1080p playing on my iPad2 already, and transferred from my PC to iPad2 with a lower version 3.x PTA as long as its the file type supported on the iDevice The screen resolution didn't mean much.

So if this newer PTA v4.x is different from the last v3.x I want to know..!

True, this is only possible for the iPad2. It was faster processor and graphics engine than the iPad1 older and slower first version.

Maybe try transfer to PC first from iPhone5 then see if the PC to iPad2 will work

If you're trying to put a vid from iPhone 5 to an iPad 1 - that is why you can't it's too slow to work with it and try's to alter the file to play it.

I'm hoping with new iOS updates to v7 more options for photo / video transfer are made available.
This question is for Enrique.

Is there a way to read this meta data within the App?
(For both photos, and videos.)

I'm assuming, if your App sees it, then it should be able to tell us what that data is.

Please don't tell me apple limits your access to the meta-data, if so, how does your app transfer it, if it can't see it?
I have had 1080p playing on my iPad2.
As long as its in the file-type the iPad2 accepts, it doesn't care if it's 1920x1080

I don't understand your statement.
The iPad2 supports it if the file type is one supported, not resolution.
The iPad2 itself resizes for its own screen resolution, without altering the original file

If I was able to transfer a 1080p file from my PC to the iPad2 using a version lower than this 4.x what's changed now,?...(and why did I update it, if different now?) :(
By the way... It's a good idea to also put a link to THIS post, in the text of the eMail, before the log, so they know where the log is from (subject) and why it was sent.
I've seen this address mentioned by Amber and Enrique...

Hello again, thanks for allowing my comments.

The only other hope is to get the crash-log from the Apple Settings App at the home screen.
Settings>General>About>Diagnostics & Usage , section
in hopes Enrique can see what's making it crash on your device.

Then tap the button actually saying "Diagnostics & Usage Data" when in that last area.

In that data window you'll see a list of files called .plist with the type of file it's from.

Example.... "Latest crash" -or- "Low Memory" or the App's name and there'll be a date of when the crash or .plist was made on that named list too.

Try to get all the latest .plist files, even if you must recreate the crash again to make newest ones show.

Within the .plist, after you tap one of them, you'll see text.
If you read down that text, a bit, it will mention the App and date it occurred on, just to verify it's the one you want, if no date shows in the title name of the .plist file.

Once you're sure it's the one(s) you want, press your finger over the text, and hold it on the screen for a second or so, ... Once one of the words highlights, release your finger, and a small menu will show saying two options, "Copy / Select All"

Choose "Select All" then after ALL the text highlights, you'll see one option, "Copy"

Tap this option, then go to your Note Pad App on the iDevice, and paste the text into a new page by doing the same finger press on that page after the keyboard shows. You just need to tap once, and an option will show called "Paste"

Use a new notepad page for each .plist file you save, so they don't get mixed up.

If you can do this for the two or three, or just one .plist that's generated for the crash, then you'll be able to copy those from the notepad to here, or an eMail to the support address for Enrique and his development team to view.

It's copied and pasted in the same way, from the notepad to here, or an eMail, using the iDevice, as you did from the .plist area.

If no .plist logs were generated, for this crash, then that's a problem. :(

If you have a sync'd backup of before you updated the App, I can tell you how to put your old version back using iTunes, and a simple "trick" :)
Hi, forgive me for "butting in" but maybe there's a "Crash-Log" being generated on the iDevice, that can help the developer find your fault causing the crash.

Enrique, or Amber can tell you where to find it, and how to copy and paste it to here, or an eMail to their support address.

It's also possible you have Low Memory issues, or just some strange bug that was left-over from the older 5.0.1 iOS.

Amber is also correct that iOS 5.1 doesn't have this happen.
I'm using 5.1 and don't have the App crash when selecting photos, on my iPad2 16GB WiFi Only device, and my storage left is quite low as well.

Make sure you also have all other Apps shut, so the systems working memory will be as high as possible.
Amber can tell you how to do that too, if you've never used the Task-Bar window.

*** Amber - I'm not sure Apple allows updating to an iOS "between" version than the highest one available on their site. I may be wrong about this, as I've never had iOS 6 available when I went from iOS 5.0.1 to iOS 5.1
Hi John,
Yes I was also hoping to have these same changes, so iDevice to iDevice can act like storage for full HD Video files in 1080p even if not being played on the device the file was transferred too.

**** Enrique - PLEASE re-consider making a routine that allows this. ****
Make your App stand-out from all the other Photo-Transfer Apps in the Apple AppStore.

This feature wouldn't confuse users if you create a "switch" in the settings that starts out as defaulting to the restriction of 720p but allows non-restricted resolution to transfer videos in Full HD 1080p for storage purposes, Device to Device, as the Computer to Device allows... - at least for the iPad2 and higher, if this can't be done for the iPad1.

Hi Enrique -

Oh well - I may as well wait for iOS 7 to update my iPad
No sense doing the update twice, being 7 is out soon (around the corner)

I'm, at least, happy to find that rotation bug for you.
I'm curious, - did it show on iOS 6 as well, or just my 5.1 ?
If both were affected it's good I noticed it :-) and not have it continue to future updates of the App.

Thanks for letting me know that "Settings" are updated as well.
I was ready to try a re-install of the App, thinking I had a "glitch" on my system.

( ***Glad Johns App issue should be solved now*** :)

Regards - :)
To: John Pale

There's a 2nd update now (v4.3) that should be the FIX for your resolution issue

Can you please download that latest update and see if in fact it has solved your separate App problem?

This way, if it's not fixed, Enrique will know at the same time he sees and answers regarding my latest post.

If it is fixed, let us all know that too, and comment if you also see, or don't see, the new photo info screen, as Enrique mentioned to me, regarding it earlier.

Also, tell me (us) what iOS you are using on your iPhone 4s and iPad2

Thanks,
The helpful Ferengi :-)

Please make your reply on a new "Reply To This Topic" full window, (under my latest reply to Enrique) and not under this (or other) simple "comment field".

This way, it's easier to spot when viewing (looking for) new posts here.
