1. I have Version 2.0 on my Imac. Can't tell what version I have on the Ipad Mini, but it was downloaded from the App Store yesterday, so should be the latest. I was using the Mac Desktop application.
2. Trying to transfer from Imac to Ipad Mini. No error message, but I suspect the Spinning Wheel and the eventual Photos Loaded message were false.
3. Yes, I looked in Camera Roll and was nothing there. I also followed previous advice to take a picture on the Ipad. This turned up OK in Camera Roll. I then tried again to transfer four photos (.JPG) with the same lack of success.
