Couldn't try your suggestions because I was updating iPhone and iPads to iOS8.

Good news. After update to iOS8 photo transfer works between devices.

I did a reset and then attempted a photo transfer from iPhone to iPad. Received an error message that said "an error occurred when contacting the device."

I've tried all the suggested fixes to no avail. What puzzles me is I can connect iOS devices to PC but not iOS to iOS. Why is that?
