Even further tests:

With the old API turned ON

1. I tried converting the .wmv to .m4v It transferred and worked fine on iPad. It only approximately doubled the file size so this culd be a resolution for about 75% of the clips that I have. I'd still have to split the others to meet your 400MB limit.

2. I experimented and converted a 10 minute piece from .wmv to .mp4 (H.264 720p codec). Changed the extension to .m4v and uploaded. Played fine on iPad. But would have the same problems with size, could only do about 80% of the clips.

3. Further experimented with .mp4 (H.264 codec) changed extension to .m4v and uploaded. Also played fine on iPad but with a slight loss of resolution--not major but just not as crisp. It expanded original .wmv size only about 15%. With this codec I could convert all but about 5 of my 75 clips whole.

So for me the only remaining sticking point (while waiting for your mod to accept various iPad .mp4 right out) would be still butting into your 400 MB limit.

Also, these clips all happen to start with a black screen. I've uploaded two and can't tell which is which in the photo library. Should I edit the clips to put some identifiable image on the startup so I can tell which is which in the photo library?

Background:

These are not LONG clips (like a movie)-- they range from 10 minutes to about 25 minutes.

On my initial try,

I get "maximum file size accepted is 400 MB". My first attempt is 516MB .mov renamed with all others that I want to test transfer in the 480 to 750 MB range.

Same held true when I switched on the old API settings.

I'm looking around for an easy way to split the file to do an initial test--but would prefer to keep the videos whole.

Background:

I've uploaded much larger video files (from TIVO and converted) as .mp4 (H.264) to iPad and get good resolution. I'm currently trying to upload some PC videos that were originally .wmv. I converted these to .mov to meet your requirements (which almost quadrupedal their original sizes).

I'm trying to upload and transferring using your app (I know I can do it via iTunes) but your app makes it so much easier to upload and also transfer between iPads easily (what I eventually would like to do).

Off to attempt a split and a test.
