Thanks for the reply. I found a switch in the iPad settings that turns off, 'sort by date'. OK. But there is still no way to re-arrange them either on the iPad or my iMac. I could not find the "edit" button you mentioned on either device and the photos will not move. Here is a screen shot. No "edit" button.

Any other help would be appreciated

Thanks again Amber. The 'edit' button on the ipad does not allow rearranging of images. I will try the select-in-order option but thats a problem when I have dozens of images in each folder. I will let you know...
