Cannot 'create new album' or choose 'save to album'.

I cannot create a new album or choose an album to save to from the web interface. There are no albums available for me to choose from. I have tried both Firefox & Safari.
I have the same (or very similar) problem. Angus - have you turned "Location services" on for the Photo Transfer App? My problem specifically: If I try to transfer from Mac to iPad, I can connect OK, and I can see "Camera Roll" as an album to export to and one of my other albums, but not all of my albums. I can also see a long list of dates, which I think are "Events" created within iPhoto. I have tried to create a new album, but the photos ended up being exported to Camera Roll, and the new album was not exported.
Dear Angus, Nick,

Thanks for contacting us. I'm sorry you are having issues with the app. The advice to check that 'Location Services' is turned on is definitely valid. Go to the 'Settings' app on your device and then make sure that 'Location Services' is ON for our app (Apple requires apps accessing albums and photos information to have location services enabled as many of your photos may be geo-tagged).

Specifically for Nick's problem, the list that shows on the website is a list of albums + events. One thing that we need to verify on our side is that the list should only show the 'editable' albums. Some of those albums are not editable (when created with iPhoto) and those albums should not be listed. If they are then that's a bug that we need to correct. I will go ahead and investigate further this issue.

Angus, if you continue having issues even after enabling Location Services please let us know and we can try other things to figure this out.

Thanks for using our app! Sorry about this issues, we appreciate your feedback.

Kind regards,

Enrique
Photo Transfer App
Hi Enrique - thanks for your reply. You may be right about "Editable" albums - I didn't know there was a distinction. How can you tell whether an album is editable?

Incidentally, I have now successfully created a new album and exported photos to it - I had simply misunderstood the instructions. I now see that if you want a new album you have to create it first, and then export photos to it - a two-stage process. The layout of the export webpage made it look like a one-stage process. May I suggest that the user is asked whether to create a new album first, if yes - give it a name, and then choose the album to export to. Great app thanks. I'd be interested in an answer to the editable question above.
Hi, NickMn,

I may be wrong, but I think your question was answered, regarding how to tell "Editable Albums" from others... In Enrique's statement ...

"...Some of those albums are not editable (when created with iPhoto) and those albums should not be listed. If they are then that's a bug that we need to correct. I will go ahead and investigate further this issue. ..."

I'm assuming you would not ordinarily see non-editable albums, and if they are in fact seen in this App, it's a "bug" that will be fixed in a future update.
Also, non-editable albums are those not created from the iDevice, as Enrique mentioned, made in iPhoto.
(I'm assuming iPhoto is a Mac program? I have PC's)

Enrique, please confirm, ... if the album is made from an outside-source, onto the iDevice, can THAT outside-source edit that album?

For example- one made with iPhoto, or other PC or Mac program, can that re-edit the album made onto the iDevice?
Maybe the Photo Transfer App, can be updated to distinguish between these albums, from others, and advise how to edit or transfer to them, rather than just blocking them from being seen.
Hi,

I checked our code and we are already checking wether an album is editable or not. The app should only show albums that are editable so in theory the 'event' albums should not show. However, it is possible that if you are using iOS5.0 and not 5.01 or 5.1 that the albums show anyways, can you tell us what version of iOS do you have installed on your device?

Regarding editable vs. not editable albums, if you create the album using iPhoto and then sync with your computer then those albums will be not-editable. If you create an album directly on your device using the 'Photos' app or any other app (like ours) then those albums are editable. So, only the albums created with iTunes/iPhoto become not editable.

I hope this is helpful!

Best regards,

Enrique
Photo Transfer App
BTW... we just released our Mac app to make it even easier to transfer photos between Mac and iDevices. We will do an official release announcement but you can already download the app using the Mac App Store:

We hope you like it!
Thanks everyone for the prompt reply.

When I installed it I didn't allow location services - not realising that this would cause the problem.

Enrique, I turned location services on and now it works like a charm.

Thank you!
Excellent! Glad to hear that :) Let us know if you have any other question or comment as you continue using the app.

Cheers!

Enrique
Thanks Enrique. Problems all solved. You asked which iOS I'm using 5.1 which did seem to list Events as well as editable Albums. Nick
