Mohammed Mahdi 13 years ago updated 13 years ago 4
Hi, I've just downloaded the photo transfer app on my iPad and iPhone so that i can edit video's from my iPhone on my iPad, however i seem to not be able to connect to the sending device.
I've tried the opposite way too iPad to iPhone - still no luck.
iphone to mac - url given just loads and loads and still nothing
I've even reset the network settings on both iDevices and followed every tip given i.e. reset home wi-fi.

Can someone help me please?

Thanks in advance. :) :(
Dear Mohammed,

Thanks for contacting us. I'm sorry you are having problems using the app. This sounds like your wifi router may be preventing internal connections to be established. Can you tell us what brand and model of wifi router do you have? If it is an Apple Extreme router or a Cisco router please make sure that you are using the main network and not the guest network which prevents devices to talk to each other.

Best regards,

Enrique

Thanks for replying Enrique.

It's the Huawei Echolife hg521. It's a really basic router that was provided when I signed up with my crappy Internet service provider TalkTalk.
Hi Mohammed,

Thanks for providing this information. I'm afraid that the router that you have is configured to block communication between devices on the network which will cause the issue that you are having. Are you familiar with the configuration of your router? If yes, then try to open incoming intranet connections on port 8080. If not, then what we can do is to create an ad-hoc (direct) network between your mac + iPhone + iPad. This is quite simple actually with a Mac computer, here are some quick instructions:

1. Click on the wifi icon on the top bar on your mac

2. Click on "Create network..." and choose a name for your adhoc network

3. Choose "40-bit WEP" as security and choose a password - it has to be 10 characters so you can simply choose 0-9 for example.

4. Once the network is created join the new network from your iPhone and iPad. Note that sometimes in takes a few seconds for the devices to join the adhoc network.

5. Wait until there is a wifi icon on the top bar of your iPHone and iPad and then try the transfer now.

This should help you getting your photos transferred.

I hope this will work for you. Let me know if you have any trouble.

Best,

Enrique

Great!! It works!

However there's still on problem, seen as it is a direct network between the devices I obviously can't connect to the Internet. So when I go back to my Internet network the direct network I set up has gone and I have to create the network all again.

Is there any way to have that network saved ready to be clicked on when needed.

Thanks so much anyway Enrique.
