Photos Copied/Replicated on Windows Computer While Uploading to iPad

Bob Griffin 12 years ago updated 12 years ago 3
When we transfer photos from our Windows computer to our iPad, an additional copy (sometimes more than one) of the photo is also created in the same folder as the original on the computer. Why does this happen and is there a way to prevent it?
Hello Bob,

Thank you for contacting us, I will be happy to help you! Thanks for posting your question here.

With the update of the new version of iOS5+ Apple decided to handle albums by duplicating all photos created in albums and sending it to the Camera Roll. We wish that it was handled differently, but unfortunately there isn't anything we can do as it has to do with Apple.

So if you are transferring your photos into an album they also appear in the camera roll as well. When transferring from computer to iPad, make sure that you have only one of those photos selected if you are getting multiple of the same image in the same gallery. :)

I hope this helps you!

Warm Regards,

Amber, thanks for your response but I'm not sure I understand. I'm not sure of the relevance the new version of Apple's iOS5+ since we are transferring from a Windows computer. The duplication occurs on the Windows computer. Before the transfer is initiated, there is only one file, lets say "IMG_5671" that we wish to copy to the iPad. After running your transfer application to copy it from the My Pictures folder on our Windows computer, a file "Copy of IMG_5671" is added to the My Pictures folder on the computer (the picture is transferred to the iPad successfully). So my questions were and are, why is this creation of a copy of the transferred file on the Windows computer happening and how do I prevent it?
Hello!

First and foremost, I am sorry for the delay in response!

What version of windows are you using? Our app should never duplicate photos, especially transferring from Windows to iPad.

Please let me know the above :)

Best,

Amber
