Transferred photos and videos looses date of creation

Division 14 years ago updated 11 years ago 5
When transferring photos as zip files the files seems to keep their "date modified" which is the data shown in Window's Explorer.

But videos (which only can be downloaded one by one) and photos that are downloaded one by one get the date when they are transferred to my computer. That's not good. I want to know when the video was recorded or photo was shot. This is an essential feature!

In Windows both "Created" and "Modified" are set to the date and time of the transfer instead of the original dates.
Hello,

Thanks again for your feedback. The problem with the modification date lies on how the files are saved. When the photos are downloaded using the zip file our application can create the photo files with their original date and add the files to the zip file. After the zip file is downloaded to your computer and is extracted to a new folder the photo files preserve their modification date. However, when downloading individual files the modification date becomes the date when the file was downloaded and saved to the computer.

We will definitely take a look at this issue again to see if there is a better way to handle this problem. I apologize for this inconvenience. We hope to have a fix for this soon.

Best regards,

Enrique
Photo Transfer App
Hi Cathylin,

The photos and videos will retain the modification date when you use the 'Download all photos as zip file', have you tried that? If you download files individually from the transfer web page then the modification date is the date of the transfer unfortunately. Are you using the Zip download or downloading files individually?

Best regards,

Enrique

What about transfer to OSX desktop? The same problem - all MOV files lose their creation date. This is not the case with JPGs. This is very irritating as there are no other indicators as to when was the MOV created - beside files name containing "image number" that can be compared to unaffected JPGs. Are you really unable to preserve the creation date or modify it to match the source once the transfer is complete?

All my kids MOVies are now dateless!! NOT cool! This might be a deal breaker for future use of this app.
Are you using the desktop app to transfer your videos? or the web interface?
