No photo content in albums

I get iPad (iOS 5.1) and MacBook Pro (OS10.8.4) to recognize each other, then nothing works. On iPad, I have an open dialog box that says devices connected, and if I close it, the connection is lost. On the MBP, I get an album icon which never shows any content. So stuck...
I'm on iOS5, I have Location Settings turned 'On' for the app, I'm using the downloaded Mac Desktop App and I have devices connected (iPad is detected) but I STILL don't see any photo albums. Just paid $2.99 for a useless app! Come on guys...what's going on here!

Sorry that you are having problems with the app. What happens when you click on the device name when is detected? Does the app give you an specific error message? Also, what type of wifi network are you using?

One other thing to try just to verify that the connection is being established is to use the web interface to see if the app connects.

From within the downloaded Desktop App, I click on my iDevice (Bex's iPad) and a little folder icon appears in the top left of the library window that says something like "Album Folders On This Device" but nothing is listed below it. But according to your visual instructions in the help section, there should be a list of albums starting with 'Camera Roll'. I don't even have the Camera Roll listed :( I got nothing. Nada.

To see if it was because I didn't have any albums created on the iPad (other than the camera roll), I went and created a few. There were at least 4 additional albums on the iPad when I reconnected the device to my iMac and the Desktop App still did not list them when I clicked on the iPad device.

My partner (whose a bit of a tech nerd) he took a look and couldn't get the Desktop App to work either. I ended up just transferring the high res versions as a zip file through the browser window version. Not ideal cos I'd like to be able to go through, select the images I want and then drag and drop from the Desktop App. Especially Video files.

I guess it's the principle of the thing, I paid for the app so I'd like it to work as it you've illustrated in your help pages. If it was a free app, I'd just walk away and try something else.

I'm sorry you keep having issues. That's quite strange. Let's check one thing, please click on the 'Apple' icon on the top left corner of your mac and then click on 'About this Mac' can you tell me what version of OSX you are running?

Also, please send us an email to support [at] phototransferapp [dot] com so I can send you a link to a modified version of the mac app that you can try to see if that works and to get more info on what the problem may be. I also want to offer you something to compensate for this problem.

I would like to recommend that you check your settings that you've allowed our app permission to view your photos.

If you are on iOS5 please verify that you have enabled Location Services for our app under Settings -> Location Services. If you don't see Location services listed then please look under General -> restrictions to see if it's turned ON.

For iOS6 the way to authorize apps to access your photos has changed on iOS6. Please go to this web address to get the instructions on how to enable access to your photos via the 'Privacy settings':

Are you using the latest version of our app on your iPad? The latest version we have available is 4.01 for iOS devices. Please make sure you are running the latest version.

Have you tried transferring to your camera roll? just to see if your photos will transfer over? Are you getting any error messages? or does the transfer just not go through?
