Thanks for contacting us. I'm sorry you are having problems with the app. Can you tell me if the app is crashing on the iPhone or on the Mac side?
If the crash happens on iPhone can you tell me if you have the same problem when going to 'Send > Device > Select Photos'? Can you select photos on the iPhone to send to another device?
Also, does it only happen with the Camera Roll album? Can you see other albums?
Another thing to try is to open the 'Settings' screen on the iPhone app (there is a little gear icon on the main screen) and touch the 'Forget devices' button and then trying to connect again from the Mac app.
Let me know how it goes.
Thanks,
Enrique
Photo Transfer App
first of all, thank you very much for the super fast response to my answer! :)
Ok, I've tried few tests with following combinations:
- iphone4 (ios version 5.0, app version 4.3) ipad2 (ios ver. 5.0, app ver. 4.0)
- iphone Mac (os x 10.7.5, app ver. 2.1)
- Mac ipad2
Now, Mac with ipad2 works! Iphone with Mac and ipad2 does't work in whatever way!
Iphone with old app version (4.0) used to work perfectly!
The problem is when I try to access camera roll on the iPhone, app closes down. When I do "'Send > Device > Select Photos", it opens camera roll, It shows me date folders, then, when I select one of these folders, it shuts down.
I also tried to refresh devices (Forget), but nothing has changed.
Am I the only one having this issue? Is there a way to go back to previous version on iPhone?
Thanks for your help
Nino
Interesting, we haven't seen this issue before so I'm really curious to know what's going on... one possible problem is that in the new version we are sorting photos by date and maybe one of the photos in your collection has a problem with the metadata which could cause a problem. Let's try one more thing:
> Open the app on your iPhone and touch the Settings button on the main screen. Then turn OFF the 'Sort photos by date' switch and then try to select photos again. Hopefully that will take care of the problem.
Let me know when you have tested this. I look forward to hear your results.
Thanks,
Enrique
Photo Transfer App
ok, I tried the tip....didn't work! :o
I also tried some other things:
- uploading a picture from Mac (without selecting iphone on the left side list): WORKED!
- download or copy last picture from iphone to mac using the new feature on menu tab: DIDN'T WORK!
Each time the app try to reach camera roll (each time I select iPhone from the left bar), it crashes!
Could it be related to number of pictures on the camera roll?...
Thanks again
Nino
I'm sorry you are still having problems. I think the issue is related to iOS5 on your iPhone, we may have missed something when compiling for iOS5 compatibility and that may be causing the crash. Is there a reason why you haven't updated to iOS6?
One very useful thing would be to have the crash logs so we know exactly where the app is failing. If you could send us the crash logs that would be great. To get to the crash logs please follow the steps described on this web page:
http://www.ondemandworld.com/how-to-f...
You can zip the logs and send them to us to our support email: support@phototransferapp.com -- We only need the files that start with 'PhotoTransferApp'.
Thanks for your help getting this figured out! Hopefully the crash logs will give us an idea of what's going on!
Regards,
Enrique
I sent you the files. Hope it'll work out!
Thanks
Nino
Thanks for sending us the crash logs. We've identified the issue, unfortunately on the new version of the app we are using a method only available on iOS5.1 and newer which is causing the crash if your device still uses iOS5.0. That was a bad move on our side. We implemented a fix and the issue will be fixed in the next update of the app (in around 2-3 weeks as we are also preparing for iOS7 compatibility). In the meantime however, you can simply update your device to iOS6 and get this problem fixed :) By updating your device to iOS6 you will also get a few more features that we've added that are only available on iOS6.
I apologize for this issue and I thank you for your help getting this figured out. Let me know if you have other questions or comments.
Thanks!
Enrique
ok, I got it, thanks a lot!
I'll think about upgrade to ios6 (or maybe I'll directly wait for the new ios 7!)
Have a nice day
