IOS Video date stamp / metadata issue on transfer
Hi
I have just used photo transfer app to transfer 66 videos from my iphone to ipad, however all original date / time info has been lost on transfer. Now all videos are showing as being created on the day they were transferred to my ipad (as per the ios camera roll timeline view), instead of the dates I recorded them on.
Is someone able to kindly assist? As naturally I am not happy that the app appears unable to retain the date / time of ios videos on transfer.
Many thanks in advance

Evidently this is a defect and my video meta data has not been retained.
All I am asking if someone knows a way I can manually apply / edit video meta data so I can re-order / correct the chronological order of my videos.
So sorry for not getting back to you. I've been investigating this and experimenting with some solutions with no success so far unfortunately. Seems like the date is being read from the date the file was written on the original device. If I discover something new I will definitely post it here, I will continue researching this and report back. If you find something that does it or an app you want to try for this please let me know on our support email: support [at] phototransferapp [dot] com and I will be happy to gift it to you.
Best,
Enrique
Photo Transfer App
Am I doing something wrong for this to happen or is this a feature of the app?
My apologies for the delay in response!
In regards to your inquiry: When you transfer from iPhone to iPad all the header data (like timestamp, GPS, etc) should be retained on photos and videos. How are you reading the time and date of your videos on your iPad/iPhone? One important thing is to transfer the videos and photos from iPhone to iPad using the app on both devices.
What version of our app are you running on your device? The latest version of our app is currently 4.6. Make sure that you are running the latest version.
Please let me know if this helps or if you have any other questions!
Best,
Amber

I haven't been able to access the video metadata (not sure if you have any ideas on doing this?) however on iphone the videos are in chronological order as per camera roll timeline, however on ipad (after transfer) all the videos have been place under camera roll for January 2014....
This is Enrique, one of the developers of the app. Sorry I didn't get back to you earlier. Can you tell me what model of the iPad that you are using?
What may be happening is that if you are transferring to an older iPad the app needs to re-encode the video so it can be played on the iPad. When doing that it may not be preserving the metadata. We are looking at this issue to try to find a fix for this.
Let me know.
Kind regards,
Enrique

I am using an ipad4.
The metadata certainly appears to have been lost.
Do you know if there is anyway I can access and edit it?
Many thanks
Any ideas on the above?
Many thanks
