I can't clear photos from an album.

Beth Armstrong Benjamin 10 years ago updated 10 years ago 8
After editing and moving photos back to my computer, I want to empty the ipad folder designated for editing. If I click "select all," a "clear all" button appears. When I click that, it disappears and returns to "select all." Trying to remove the images from the folder individually doesn't work either.
Hello Beth,

My apologies for the delay in response!

Did you want to delete photos from your device? If so you will have to do so manually from the photos app on your device as our app cannot delete or modify anything off your device :)

Photo Transfer App
Amber, That does not work. I am running IOS 7.0.6 and I can not delete any image or folder created using the photo transfer app. While I can select the images, the trash can is "grayed out" and therefore not accessible. In Folder view, The folders created using your app are "grayed out" when I hit the edit button in Photos.
Hello,

Our app cannot remove anything from your device, so if you want to delete photos off your device, you have to do so via the "Photo's App".

I had responded to your thread here: https://getsatisfaction.com/photo_tra...

Please let me know if you have any other questions! I will be happy to assist you!

Amber...the Apple Photo app will not delete your apps folder or transferred images. I am not trying to use your app to delete anything.
Hi Joseph,

This is Enrique, one of the developers of the app. If the album was created with our app then it can be deleted by opening the 'Albums' tab inside of the 'Photos' app and then touching the 'Edit' button. If the album is grayed out then it means that it was created when synching your device with your computer via iTunes. Those albums are not created by our app but by iTunes by selecting photos to sync with your computer. The only way to delete those albums is by synching your device again with your computer and deleting the album from the list of selected folders to sync.

The same goes for photos. Photos transferred with our app can be deleted using the 'Photos' app when you go to the 'Camera roll' album. If the photos were synched with iTunes then you will need to use iTunes to delete them.

I hope this helps.

Best regards,

Enrique

Enrique,

I wish you answer addressed my issue. Please let me explain what steps I have taken, and what position I am in.

1) I have already used the IPAD photos app and completely deleted every image in the camera roll. When I performed that task, the folders and images transferred by your app did not delete.

2) I have never sync'd photos using ITUNES.

3) My IPAD now contains a completely empty "camera roll" folder, and all the folders and images that were generated using your app. When I deleted them from the camera roll, they did not delete from your folders. So I now have 20 photo transfer folders with 900 images and an empty camera roll folder. While you say that your app images are shown in both the app folder and camera roll, on my device, the camera roll is empty, and your app folders and images still exist. Understand....MY CAMERA ROLL IS EMPTY BUT THE IMAGES DID NOT DELETE FROM YOUR APP FOLDERS.

When I open the transfer app on my desktop and IPAD, the folders in question are readily seen on the IPAD device using your application. They are your photo transfer app folders and images. They did not originate from anywhere else.

As I have stated twice now, I have never used ITUNES to manage images. In folder view, your app folders gray out after I press edit. In photo view, your app images cause the trash can to gray out when I select your apps images. No other software has ever been used. I only had two types of images on my camera roll. These are images transferred using your app, and images copied using the Copy command from an internet site like Facebook or tumblr.

I understand that your organization is having difficulty understanding the how your app could have caused the problem. It has been on my device for multiple IOS updates. I will assume that I will have to wipe the device completely and start fresh. The only question I have now is what software I should now use with the current IOS to transfer images and folders.
Hi Joseph,

Thanks for the extra info. I'm sorry we haven't been able to help. Are you sure you transferred those photos/albums with our app? Did you perhaps use the Apple's camera connection kit to put the photos into the iPad?

I can send you technical documentation if you would like but our app is incapable of creating albums that can't be deleted from your device. Apple specifically designed this and does not provide a way for apps to create folders that are not deletable via the 'Photos' app. Also, all the photos saved with our app will be saved to the Camera Roll, there is basically no way we can do otherwise. That is how Apple designed the interfaces for apps to interact with the 'Photos' app. In fact, our app saves photos to the Camera Roll first and then it saves only a reference of the photo to the album if the user designated one. There is no other way to save photos from an app to the 'Photos' app. The fact that the albums appear inside our app only means that it can read those albums but not that they were created by the app. Our app will read all folders inside of the 'Photos' app regardless of wether they were created by the app or not.

It would be useful if you can send us a screenshot of the albums you can't delete. What are their names? When did you transfer those albums/photos? You can send us screenshots if you would like to: support [at] phototransferapp [dot] com.

Let me know if I can help or clarify further.

Enrique,

Yes I am positive that I us not use another means. I do not own tha camera kit. While I understand that adding images using your app also adds the same image to the camera roll, I deleted images from the camera roll, utilizing the functions in Apples Photo's app. These images deleted from the camera roll, but did not delete from the transfer app folders. By the time I finished deleting all images from the camera roll, I was left with the transfer app folders, with images, and an empty camera roll. You may not believe it can happen, but.....empty camera roll.....20 transfer folders with images......

I gave up and wiped the device this evening as I expect that it will take too long to convince your group of the fact that the problem exists, let alone work on a solution.

I did not reinstall your app and the device now appears to be fine. Now on to trying to find a program to make folders and transfer images to my device.
