Create an ad-hoc network using a Windows Vista computer

Sometimes when connecting through a normal wifi connection fails a solution is to create an ad-hoc (direct) network between your computer and your device.

Please follow the steps described on this link (by Microsoft) to create an ad-hoc network using your Windows Vista computer:

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/wi...

After you create the ad-hoc network on your computer go to your iPhone or iPad and using the 'Settings' app join the ad-hoc wifi network that you just created.

After joining the ad-hoc network on your device open 'Photo Transfer App' and you should get a new address that you can use from your computer's web browser to start transferring photos.

Hope this helps!
I tried this setup everything works fine until I try to put in the password I know for sure is correct but wont except it to join with my computer. The transfer was working perfectly with wifi and now when I put in the number and letters provided it doesnt recognize it.

Hello,

Thanks for posting your question here. So, the app was working well with your normal wifi setup but now is not? If that's the case then it is possible that your router simply needs to be reset. Sometimes routers need a reset to refresh all connections, simply unplug your router and plug it back again, then join your network again from your device and your computer and try the transfer process again.

Remember to double check that your iPhone/iPad are connected to your wifi network as well as your computer. Type the address exactly as it appears on the app including the 'http://' and the ':8080' parts.

I hope this helps you. Let us know if you need more help. You can also email us to: support [at] phototransferapp [dot] com. We will be glad to assist you.

Kind regards,

Enrique
Photo Transfer App
I know if the caps lock is on, the password, even though correct, won't be accepted.

Have you checked if your "Caps Lock" is ON? ... :-) the password is case sensitive.

Usually indicated by a small indicator LED on the keyboard.

This works for Windows 7 too. Step by step just needs a little tweaking. I noticed two things:

1. The photo transfer app has to be up on the screen of the ipad for the transfer to start. Otherwise, the screen on the pc just stays still, despite selecting photos to be transferred.

2. When I tried making the ad hoc connection on my pc, the ipad wouldnt connect to my pc-created network with the given password. It kept saying conneciton failed. When I set up the ad hoc network WITHOUT a password, the connection went through just fine.
Because my photos would not back up with a connection between my iphone and pc I have tried all of the above sugestions with no luck.
I am also unable to create an ad hoc network WITHOUT a password as someone suggested.
Please help - I wanted this to be a simple solution that everyone is talking about!
