Photo Transfer App Won't Transfer Photos

David Rinehart 14 years ago updated 14 years ago 3
After NUMEROUS attempts, the app will not transfer photos from my iPhone camera roll to my computer. It will act like it's going to work, and then while the iPhone is indicating "preparing photos for transfer", after about 1 minute, the iPhone screen will go blank, and then it will display the page that has the the Photo Transfer App Icon. At the same time, on my computer screen, the page that was displaying the list of photos that were going to be transferred as a zip file goes blank, and then an error message pops up that says "unable to connect to server". I'm more than a little aggravated with this app. I'm not expecting miracles, but it seems like a photo transfer app should......... transfer photos.
Thanks for any assistance you can provide.

David
Hi David,
Thanks for posting your question here. I'm sorry you are having problems with the app. This problem is most likely happening because of the number of photos that you are trying to transfer. Currently Photo Transfer App can safely transfer up to 50 photos on iPhone 3GS or iPhone 4 and around 32 photos on iPhone 3G and 1st. generation.

I would recommend to decrease the number of photos that you are trying to to transfer and try the same procedure again. Maybe you can start by selecting between 20 and 30 photos to see if that solves the problem and the transfer completes.

I hope this helps. Please let us know if you continue having problems. We'll be happy to help.

Kind regards,

The Photo Transfer App team
Hi,

I have a similar problem - but it happens whether I am trying to download one or 32 photos - so the number of photos does not help me. I can get as far as the Photo Transfer page on my iPhone 4 but on selecting "Download all photos as zip file" on my iPhone, and selecting the appropriate folder on my PC, I get the little blue progress bar, but it doesn't move - even after an hour there is no progress and I give up. I don't get any error messages like David - everything indicates it should work - but it doesn't.

I also note that the instructions are different on the web site than on the device.

Very disappointed.

Hi Julie,
Thanks for posting your problem here. I'm sorry you are having problems with the app. So, you were able to view the transfer page and click on the 'Download all photos as zip file, correct?

I would recommend 2 things to try. The first one is to go open the 'Photos' app on your iPhone and open the album where you were trying to transfer the photos from. Sometimes our app can't read the photos catalog if the Photos app has not been refreshed. Opening the 'Photos' app and browsing the album re-creates the catalog.

After that you can try the same procedure as the first time. Open Photo Transfer and select the photos that you want to transfer and then use the address provided to download them to your computer. Question, are you using an iPhone with OS4? or are you still running 3.1.3?

Also, please make sure that your iPhone is getting a good wifi connection. This is VERY important to avoid any connection interruption while transferring.

Finally, we have noticed that some streaming services like a Skype call or an internet radio station can interrupt the communication between iPhone and computer so you may want to check for that and turn those off while you attempt to transfer.

I hope this helps. Please let us know how it goes. We'll be happy to help.

Kind regards,

Enrique
