Windows7 app stops responding in the middle of transferring videos from iPad4

David Rees 10 years ago updated 10 years ago 5
I am trying to use your photo transfer app to transfer videos from my iPad4 with iOS7 to my windows 7 PC.

I have videos that are about 10-15 minutes long and the app seems to be timing out and stops responding about 70% of the way through the transfer.

I am able to transfer smaller files.

Are there any solutions for this?

Hi there,

having exactly the same issue...

Hello Thomas,

I'm sorry you are having the same problem. what iOS are you running on your device? Also what device are you trying to transfer your videos to/from?

Note that videos that are over a few gigs, make sure you are on a strong wifi connection and that the app doesn't ping out or close during transfer. If you find the videos still struggle to transfer you might want to transfer those particularly long videos via iTunes to ensure they don't ping.

Best,

Amber

Thomas,

If you're experiencing the same problem I'm experiencing, you are trying to transfer large videos from iOS7 or 8 to a PC running Windows 7 and the photo-transfer app is timing out.  Of course, the reason I got the app in the first place is because iTunes is having driver issues seeing my iOS devices when hooked up to the PC via USB and not allowing me to transfer files, so I am trying to take advantage of the app to solve that problem. My WiFi connection is strong.

What I found I have been able to do is to install the phototransfer-app onto an old laptop I have that runs Windows-Vista.  I find the app does not time out on the Vista operating system.  Then I use USB sticks to transfer files to my main computer.

Hopefully phototransferapp will release an update of their Windows app that doesn't timeout on large files in Windows 7.

Dave/Thomas,

Please let me know if you still experience these issues after working through the suggested fixes.

Hello

Thanks for sending us your question here, I will be happy to help you!

Firstly you might want to make sure you are as close to your wifi router as possible and try transferring 1 large video at a time.

It's most likely timing out because of your wifi connectivity. So ensure that you are as close as your router as possible and please try the transfer again.

Please let me know if this helps or if you have any other questions about our app!

Best,

Amber
