transfer more than 50 photos
How many photos is the maximum allowed to transfer from my iPad to my Mac at once? (is there a limit)
We are going to Europe fall of 2011 & I hope to travel with my LX5 (Lumix) camera and iPad to store RAW files.
Today I uploaded some RAW images which it transferred with .JPEG extension. I then changed the extension back to the default for Lumix cameras (RW2) and they were recognized as RAW and appeared to be proper size and resolution.
I need to know if there will be a possibility of transferring more than 50 photos at a time (each 13MB).
Also, in your upcoming updates (iOS 4.2 is out) will the mislabeled extension issue be fixed? Or is there some setting I've missed?
Thanks for your help...

I uploaded pure RAW (not RAW plus JPG) files from the camera directly to iPad. Then I transferred them to my desktop using your program.
They were labeled as JPEG, but were the size of my original RAW files. Photoshop CS3 would not recognize nor open the files labeled JPEG, nor would the system
However when I changed the extension back to the original Panasonic (Lumix) extension (RW2) both the system and CS3 could read them.
Also my original files were the identical size to the transferred ones, whereas JPG files are substantially smaller.
I believe the original RAW content was transferred intact, especially given that the computer system and the photo software could not/would not read the files though they were labeled JPEG, until I changed the extension back to RW2.
I tried other RAW extensions and it did not recognize them either...only when I restored them to RW2.
Either way, it sounds like you have a remedy in the works and I look forward to the updates.
Thanks for your message. I just did the experiment that you suggested and obtained the same results as you!
So far, we had been testing with RAW+JPG images which resulted on the JPG file being transferred. However, I just tried with RAW only files as you suggested and the images transferred where the original untouched RAW files with JPG extension as you experimented before.
Thanks for helping us discover this :) For now, you can transfer the images and then rename them to RW2 extension. In the upcoming release you will be able to select what format you want to transfer the photos. I will post something here as soon as we release the update.
Let us know if you have any other question or comment.

Thanks for posting your question here and sorry for taking some time to respond.
For now unfortunately we don't offer the ability to transfer more than 56 photos at one time. However, we do have plans to support bigger batches of photos in an upcoming software update but I can't post the details until 2 or 3 weeks from now.
Regarding the RAW format, we actually do not transfer the photos in RAW format. They are actually in JPG format. Your software is most likely ignoring the file extension and just opening the file correctly because it can read the file format (despite changing it to RAW). We are also working already on supporting RAW transfers and hopefully we will have them ready for version 2.2 which we plan to release in couple of weeks.
Sorry I didn't have a better answer. Please let us know if you have another question or comment. We will be happy to help.
Kind regards,
Enrique
