Cannot transfer video from Macbook to iPad

slavichavoc 13 years ago 7
When I try to transfer video from my Macbook to my iPad I get an error message saying that the video file is not compatible. I can transfer the same video to my iPhone with no issues. I can also transfer the file from the iPhone to the iPad. I want to use these videos in Keynote but don't want to have to keep going from Mac to iPhone to iPad. The files are all in m4v format. If I sync via iTunes to the iPad the videos play easily but it also requires putting the videos into iPhoto - too long a process. Can you fix this glitch please?
You may also have the default size limit setting set too low, in the photo transfer App settings section. (settings section shown in the iSettings area, for Apps)

The iPad2 should be able to handle 1080p Res, (at least 720p) but if the transfer App has it's default size limit set too low, it will also say there's a problem with the video, even if the video options are correct.

The setting size limit is expressed as "seconds" , I put mine to 5000 seconds, for large videos.
Hello,

Thanks for posting your question here. I'm sorry you are having issues with the app. The error you described usually means that the photo catalog on the iPad is not up to date. I would recommend you to try to open the 'Photos' app before you start a transfer to make sure that the photo catalog is up to date. Opening the photos app forces the database to get updated, then, try to transfer your videos again using our app. Sometimes the photo database needs to be updated before a transfer takes place otherwise the 'Photos' app interface returns an error.

If that does not work then, try this:

1. Open the 'Settings' app on your iPad and scroll down until you find our app ('Transfer')

2. Change the switch for 'Use old saving APIs' to ON and close the settings app.

Doing this will tell our application to use the old programming interfaces provided by Apple to save your photos. It looks like the new programming interface provided in the last SDK is having some problems with certain photos/videos. I hope that will fix the problem you are having. Let me know when you have a chance to try this out.

I hope this helps. Please let me know how it goes. I will be very happy to assist you.

Kind regards,

Enrique

Thanks so much. Changing the switch for "Use old savings APIs" to ON worked. I am now looking forward to giving my first presentation on iPad!
You are welcome! I'm glad to hear that you were able to transfer your videos. Good luck with your presentation and let us know if you have any other question or comment as you continue using the app.

Best regards,

Enrique
Alas, after having the ability to transfer videos, it is gone again. I don't know why it is not working again.
Hello,
I'm really sorry to hear the problem occurred again. Are you getting the same 'not compatible' issue as before? If yes, I would recommend you to open the 'Photos' app before you start a transfer, opening the 'Photos' app before a transfer ensures that the photo database is up to date. So, simply, open the Photos app, then close it, open our app and try the transfer again.

If that does not help then please provide me with some extra info about the videos that you are trying to upload. Are they all from the same source? or from different cameras/sources?

Let me know how it goes.

Regards,

Enrique
I think I found my cause of the issue - it was the size of the videos that I was trying to import to the iPad. When I reformatted the videos to a smaller screen size I was able to import them with no problem - d'uh! I guess I'll have to be more diligent now when selecting format, size etc...

Thanks again for your prompt replies!
