Trying to download from a 1st Gen iPad to a Windows desktop. Error message

Trying to download from a 1st Gen iPad IOS 5.x) to a Windows desktop. It seems like I'm connected but keep getting error saying make sure version is up to date on device. Cannot see thumbnails but I do see the folders. My device is visible and the folders even show a photo but can't backup or select photos within the folder.  Help! New user

Does the app on the iPad stays open when you try to access the photos in one of the albums on the desktop app?

One other thing to try is to use the web interface to transfer photos instead of the desktop client, this just to see if the issue is more on the desktop client than the app on the iPad. 

Let us know when you have a chance to try using the web interface.

Yes. The app does stay open. The folders are showing but no pictures show in the preview area. I just keep getting a gray box that drops down from the top and says check version and reboot router. I have rebooted the router, laptop and device. No change. I have also just downloaded the desktop and iPad software so they must be up-to-date. I have use the web interface with the exact same results.
Glad this program was so cheap. Guess you get what you pay for.
Version 4.7.            IOS is 5.1.1

The IOS is the latest version the iPad can update to.

This is Enrique. I'm puzzled with this because the app should be able to read the photos from your iPad first gen. If the same problem happens with the web browser and the desktop app and it happens on ALL albums on the iPad then there is something more intricate happening. Does your iPad name has any special characters on it? How is it displayed when you connect via the desktop app? If you can send us an screenshot of the state of the desktop app that would be useful to know what else we can try.

My ipad is named pdavis' ipad. Don't know if the ' qualifies as a special character but I don;t know why that would make a difference. Here is the screen shot:

Changed the ipad name to just pdavis. No change

I'm really not sure what's going on with your setup. From the screenshot it seems that the connection is actually established as the app shows you the albums. One other thing you can check is if you iPad has enough storage space as our app needs a bit of room to create temporary files.

Something to consider and make sure you have updated is Adobe Air. You can check here: https://get.adobe.com/air/">https://get.adobe.com/air/

Also can you verify if the photos you are trying to transfer, all they all photos you took with the device? Are they in a Shared Photos ( ie: iCloud Photo Stream enabled ).

Amber, Thanks I thought that no one was interested in assisting after 3 days went by with no response. I do know what is wrong now and hope there is a work around. I downloaded the app from itunes and my ipad is a first generation so the version I downloaded is an older version. Is there any workaround? What I need is to backup all of the photos on the ipad to my computer. What brought me to purchasing your app is when I direct connect to the ipad with a cable only one folder shows (about 1/6 of my pictures on the drive). Your app shows all pictures and looks like it is connected but won't transfer. Any help or work around you can suggest would be appreciated.

Our app should work with the first generation iPad as long as you are on the latest iOS that the 1st gen iPad can handle which you mentioned you are in your first post. Sometimes that error message can sometimes be a little more specific and not pertain so much to the actual version of the app but sometimes, to the connectivity.

What version of our app are you currently running?
